Far too accurate and defensively good to be troubled by froch. Froch would be busted up

When would folk consider Froch's prime to be? It's very flattering to assume it has lasted the 5 and a half years post Pascal.

That's a good question.

You look at fights like Abraham where he pulled off a very controlled fight behind his jab, and then look at something like the Bute fight where he put on a demolition job and it's hard to decide. He's been a top fighter, but I don't see how he beats a prime Toney, Toney is just too skilled and far too tough to be Taylored.

Yeah, no route to victory for Froch in this one that I can see.

Nah toney would not have stopped froch, would have schooled him though.

No stoppage, but a wide win. Either Carl boxes, and it's a stinker, or he comes forward and pressures, and gets countered to death. If the latter, the gulf in class looks big.

Granted Toney was a moderate puncher, but similar to when he won his cruiser title, if James keeps findng gaps for his overhand right time after time he could wear Froch's resistence down in the late rounds.

James Toney, Froch has had a great career but they are leagues apart in terms of talent.

On wins at the weight you have to go with Froch but stylistically i can't think of a worse fighter for Froch at that weight, I include Jones in that

Got to go with Toney but would be nervous if I had money on it as Toney got out of jail a few times against lesser fighters that outworked him when he was having one of his "lazy" nights.

Knocked out Prince Charles Williams, outpointed Tony Thornton, KO'd Tim Littles & KO'd Doug De Witt.

& it's hard to be picky with "ooh what did he do at the weight then?" bitching when the guy you're bitching about went on to beat up cruiserweights two weights above.

toney wasn't that great @middle or super middle and i see this as closer fight than some here , no doubt all young dudes that never see james @168 will say i'm crazy but i think froch would pull off a tight win .

Speaking of great fighters past their prime I see Glen Johnson got stopped at cruiser last night in the Congo.

Skillwise, Toney is more than one level above Froch, Toney is about as high a level as it gets in terms of pure boxing skills. If he fancied it, he'd embarass Froch over 12 one-sided rounds. Of course, Toney sometimes fancied a McDonalds more than he fancied a fight...
