The Main Event featured the popular and highly regarded undefeated Puerto Rican Lightweight ~ Juan Nieves
against Gabe LaMarca, a scrappy club-fighting Massachusetts Lightweight.
21 year-old Jeff Merritt was facing 180 lb. Al Singletary of Harlem, New York.

* October 2, 1967 > Al upset highly regarded Jose King' Roman by scoring a KO 7.
* February 10, 1968 > Al gave undefeated Puerto Rican Heavyweight Pedro 'Schoolboy' Agosto a hell of a battle in losing in a 10-Rounder.
* April 15, 1968 > Al fought Jose 'King' Roman in a rematch, and gave Jose a good going over in a losing effort over 10-Rounds.
Jeff had about a 25 lb. advantage over the Harlem Light-Heavyweight. The bout lasted little over a minute in
the 1st Round, before Jeff slammed Al to the canvas, where he was counted out by Referee - Arthur Mercante.
Jeff just kept punching with everything he had, until Singletary went down after absorbing a tremendous barrage of punches.
Jeff Merritt improved to 6-0-0 {5 KO's}, with all KO's coming in the 1st Round.
Teddy Brenner of Madison Square Garden was promoting Jeff as a future star in the Heavyweight Division.
