Shouldn't be too hard to name your preferred 5 but in which order ? Am including Ireland in this by the way. For me its...5.steve Collins-think his best wins were against faded/fading fighters and the guys he did fight in their prime he lost to, tough fighter though and a handful for anybody. 4.eubank- Another tough man but with a bigger skill set, best wins were against domestic opposition although he did travel to Germany to take on their unbeaten fella (not attempting to spell it ! ). 3. Benn- was vunerable but had the balls to travel and won on the road a few times in fights that weren't gimmes plus a career defining win over the G man gets him this spot. 1 and 2 are obviously filled by Joe and Carl but can't honestly split them, carls opposition has been a whos who of the top of the current crop but is that enough to beat Joe who had some very weak defences but holds a win over a future hall of famer in Hopkins ? will probably have to wait till carl calls it a day until we can properly evaluate his career but as far as I can see its level pegging at the mo.

Can't argue with that although I still think the Benn that beat McLellan might have been too much for all of them

This one will go on forever, post and run unless you fancy page after page of the usual arguments on this topic.

Easy to start with, then it gets a bit complicated with some of them fighting each other, but at different stages of their careers.

1. Calzaghe
2. Collins
3. Eubank
4. Benn
5. Froch

Not really how I'd want it to look, but that's how rankings go sometimes, at their peak, Collins beats Eubank, who beats Benn, who beats Collins, which turns into a mess, but since Collins beat Benn twice, albeit a faded version and he was going to be above Eubank, I'll leave it like that.

Collins is hands down #2 right now

Collins at 2 really ? just don't think he did enough to warrant that spot, did well against McCallum and Johnson but fell short, beat Eubank just before his decline and beat a past it Benn is how I see it.

1. Calzaghe
2. Froch
3. Eubank
4. Benn
5. Collins

He beat Eubank twice, hard to justify having Eubank above him and like I said, he did beat Benn twice as well, even though I think at his peak Benn would've beaten him, because Eubank was going to be above Benn, I put Collins in at 2 to simplify things, in reality 2-4 could easily be switched around into any order.

Collins is hugely discredited!! Beat both fighters twice! & fought class like Johnson & mcallum! & kalambay I think? He also done pyatt for the title at middle.

A good day to die hard - best non-porn title to get a general cinema release.

On ability;

Joe Calzaghe
Carl Froch
Dean Francis (former Euro champ not world)
Richie Woodhall
Chris Eubank

The margins are tight after Froch, with Collins probably being a little overrated at supermiddle generally as Benn/Eubank were past their best. Honourable mentions for Glen Catley and Robin Reid. Benn is hard to place, but should be 6th I suppose.

Dean Francis? The most overrated fighter ever.

Why so? If it wasn't for his shoulder he'd have beaten Woodhall, Reid and Catley.

I strongly disagree. Him and Catley might have been ok. He's done nothing to suggest he could match Woodhall or Reid.

Reid was really quite a lukewarm champion, losing in the end to an ageing Malinga. Francis was sharper and could have outpointed Robin.

Francis was never good enough to be any sort of World Champion. The Reid that beat Nardiello, Wharton and ran Calzaghe close would have knocked Francis out.

I was fortunate enoug to see Dean Francis in his prime and he had a lot of potential, but to put him above the likes of Eubank, Benn and Collins on ability is crazy.

He'd be lucky to get in the top ten.
