Kennedy McKinney refuses to grass...

You know, if there's one thing I hate in this world, it's grassers. Cowardly grassers ought to be strung up and left to die as far as I'm concerned.
I liked Kennedy McKinney as a fighter; I respect him even more now:

A former Olympic boxing champion refused to testify yesterday in the murder trial of Donnell Shipp. His action caused the judge to dismiss the jury for the day in the trial of 25-year-old Shipp, who is charged with murder for the 2003 shooting of Bobby Joe Manning.
Kennedy McKinney appeared briefly in court yesterday afternoon, at which time he was expected to testify.
He paused before being formally sworn in. Then he said, "I have nothing to say. I'm taking the Fifth."
With that, he turned and walked out of the courtroom.
"Stop that man," Judge Ready ordered. "He can't take the Fifth. He hasn't been accused of any crime."
McKinney, who won the bantamweight gold in the 1988 Olympics for America, was also IBF super-bantamweight champion as a pro. He lived in Memphis as a pro, but now lives in Mississippi.
There was no indication what he might have testified about, but he apparently was acquainted with Shipp and Manning.
Judge Ready took McKinney into the chambers and then allowed him to leave, but he ordered the bailiffs to bring all family members of Shipp and Manning to the courtroom.
"The court's been getting reports of problems between the families, threats and hints at intimidation. We're not going to have any of that. No nothing, understand me?" Ready said.
Shipp and Manning grew up together and both were from Olive Branch in Mississippi, but they were only acquaintances, not friends.
They became involved in an argument over a neighbourhood craps game, and the shooting subsequently occurred.
Shipp contends he shot Manning in self-defence because he feared that Manning was going to either shoot him or cut him with a knife.
Lt. Kevin McKenzie of the Olive Branch Police Department testified Tuesday that Manning was unarmed when he was shot, but under cross examination by defence attorney William Travis, McKenzie said an orange boxcutter was found near Manning's body at the crime scene.
Travis said Shipp had feared Manning because "he sometimes carried a knife and was known to cut."
McKenzie also revealed that Manning's body showed traces of cocaine and alcohol.
Then McKinney was called, leading to the afternoon showdown with the judge.
Shipp could face life in prison if convicted on the murder charge.

McKinney told the judge he feared reprisals if he testified, but still didn't grass anyone.

I don't know where to stand on this. It's clearly a dispute that doesn't directly involve McKinney, so i'd do exactly the same and stay out of it.

Having said that, there is a time and a place for grassing. Just for example, if one of my mates raped someone, then i'd have to grass them up. For crimes like that you've got to make exceptions. You guys surely can't say that you'd let a mate get away with something like rape. I must say that if i had a mate who stole cars, shoplifted or something along those lines it wouldn't really bother me enough to grass him up.

Bennie, i thought your pet hate was arrogance.

I think you're going into it too deeply, Glittermonkey. Of course, I agree with everything you say. My pet hates are:

I'll tell you one of my pet hates. You're sitting in the cinema surrounded by popcorn munchers watching the pain in the arse adverts that never seem to end, and a "funny" one comes on that you and everyone else has seen a thousand times before on tv. But what do they do? All start frigging laughing their heads off even though they'd NEVER have done that at home because it's just not funny after about the 3rd time. Why do they do that??

I told you, my parents are hippies, so they don't go in for all that modern medical mumbo jumbo. Besides, they're in their 50's now, so they'll only be a few more brothers and sisters for me.

"I'm taking the fifth!"

Has Kennedy got a speech impediment?... think about it...

Here is my long list of pet hates about boxing:

WBA
WBC
WBO
WBU
WBF
IBA
IBO and on and on...

People who are slagging Roy Jones off for his first proper loss and getting knocked out in his 50th fight, when he's 35-years-old and are now saying "he was no good after all!" Bunch of dicks. Not too many people questions Ali's greatness as result of being whupped by seven-fight novice Leon Spinks, do they?

Ricky Hatton no decent fight on the horizon saga: Yaaawwwwwwwnn!!!

Audley Harrison no decent test saga: Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaawnnn!!

The Heavyweight division period: Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrggh!

People who think all Mike Tyson has to do to win back the heavyweight title is weigh in at 218-220lbs, irrespective of the fact he's done jack since getting whacked out by Lewis.

State of amateur boxing: Run by a bunch of up-their-own-arse prima donnas who have wrecked the game. Christ, fighters staying in cramped accomodation while officials lord it up in nice digs. Disgrace.

Amateur boxing trainers who forget the sport is about the lads who participate, not them.

Some people unfortunately don't have that luxury Wales.
You shouldn't grass on your own I suppose if you are a bank robber, or a thieving tosspot burgler.
Honour amongst thieves and all that.

However, If someone in your family or your friends, children or community are threatened, if you can sort it yourself, then all power to you...If you can't DIY, then you have no choice.

I saw that reconstruction on TV about that bunch of w@nker kids from Rotherhithe who beat the sh!t out of and killed a young lad.
It took freakin' months for people to come forward to nail them...
Grass the fukers I say.

We are talking criminal scum here...

Spot on, I think people have been reading too many books called things like 'Guvnor' and 'Sledgehammer' and have watched The Krays too many times.

basicaly as long as you arent doing harm to people / innocent parties then schtum.
But if I found out a mate had been robbing someones house I would have to sort him out.

But could do that without the law

Theres certain crimes that trnascend human decency we all know what they are, in which case you woulfd no longer be friends with them anyway.
In which case yeah, you shop em.
thats not being a grass thats being a decent human being.

im involved in an oil trading team mate.
I hesitate to say oil trader as the stigma that goes wioth that word isnt seems arrogant, its supply economics basically, inclusive of logistics and market influence.
my job title may be "trader" but tis not that glamorous. trust me.

was in poland for pipeline stuff (Budkovce) bit of a jolly really Cracow (as the poles spell it) is a great place for a stag well recommend it.

lesson learned never drink vodka with pole

Went to mina al ahmadi in Kuwait beginning of this week what a strange place, big oil terminal. Mental

fucked off with travelling now, not the norm. give me englands green fields anyday.
