A fight I would loved to have seen. A prime Hatton, the one who beat Tzyu, against Cotto at Welter. Would Bruno at his best have beaten Haye? Would the best Benn have beaten the best Froch?

One of the boxing tragedies of our time that Hatton/Cotto never happened, I'd have probably favoured cotto by late stoppage, but we will never know

I actually think that Hatton may well have won this had it happened back in the day.

Cotto by close decision. Would have been a belter of a fight.

at welter cotto brutalises 'im. prob wins a closer 1 at light welter too.

At light welterweight, Hatton in a close one, at welterweight, it swings the other way and Cotto wins it, the move up in weight suited him far more than it did Ricky.

As said above its tragedy this never happened. Weird it didnt also, would'v made everyone concerned millions.

Just to be clear, I thought that we were talking about Light Welter.

But it's no uncommon in these threads, to see poster gravitate toward the guy who is currently doing well as their predicted victor. But, let's no forget how great a fighter Hatton was in his day. Just because he lost to Mayweather & Pacquaio - it doesn't devalue his class as a fighter.

I agree.Hatton did not do well at 147.I see a massacre there.At 140 a closer fight but Cotto winning a
comfortable decision.In what could of been a great fight.

Shoot fire.Hatton was fantastic at 140 I don't think anyone will argue that.

Yeah but you also have to remember that Hattons best win was against Tszyu who himself was past it when they fought and had hardly fought in 2 years or something.

It's easy to say that in retrospect. But Tszyu was the favourite going in to that fight. Hatton was seen as a fringe fighter, hanging on to the outskirts of the top table (largely due to his WBU Title reign). And Hatton's career is worth much, much more than his victory over Tszyu - his wins over Castillo & Malignaggi also proved him to be a fighter of the top level.

Hatton V Cotto at 140 would have been when they were both at their best, when Cotto was destroying everyone he faced.
I would probably go with Cotto but would be happy if with any outcome as long as it was a good fight. Could have been an incredible trilogy.

Cotto would've stopped Ricky late on IMO.

Yes, for it to be the best version of Hatton it would need to be at 140lbs. Cotto looked fragile at 140lbs but very solid at 147lbs, where Ricky never looked the same fighter he was at LWW

Bruno Haye I'm not sure. Haye would have a big speed advantage and could hurt Bruno, but he didn't really throw in enough volume to get the kind of TKO victory that usually did for Frank. Haye would be very wary of Bruno's power too.

Benn Froch is an interesting one. Froch would be considerably the bigger man, but Benn has two things which spell trouble for Froch, speed and combination punching, with power too obviously. Froch would need to fight a very disciplined fight, but I'd edge toward Benn.

Nigel would need to box a more disciplined fight. A super middle Nigel liked to box more.

I'll go with this. I think it's a fight those 2 fighters would have actually enjoyed. Hope I'm not being harsh on Ricky because on his best night he could stop Cotto to the body.

I can remember when there were 4 Light-Welters: Miguel Cotto, Mayweather, Hatton and Zab Judah I think was the fourth, and it was a case of who do you like that was going to go furthest. At least that's how it seemed to me back when Boxing News was the old big size.

i would go with cotto. but i think ricky would have pushed him all the way at light welter in a very close barn burner of a fight, at welter i reckon cotto would have been to strong for him and possibly have stopped him late on. a shame this fight never happened really.

Hatton v Cotto would've been a good fight, too close to call.

Haye would've beaten Bruno. Bruno too slow and stiff, Haye too quick and mobile. As soon as Haye landed clean it'd be all over.

No chance. There is a reason ricky left him. He was ready for a title shot 6-7 fights before he fought for one and the cotto fight should have been made weather it was when they were prospects/contenders or when they were both world champions. The fans were robbed of a great fight. Honestly struggle to think of a better fight than an unbeaten cotto vs hatton at 140, it would have been a war.

When they were champions it should have happened.Big money.
