I have seen enough people speaking about Ricky Burns but I would like to hear about the fights that were not aired on Sky! I really missed using the red button to see the other fights!!

Scott Cardle, David Brophy, Michael Roberts, Ryan Smith, Scott Allan and Callum Johnson all got wins

Hugh Gray coming back from a knee injury managed a draw against William Warburton who he previously beat. Warburton is a very good journeyman who recently beat Hugh's stablemate Craig Kelly and can give anyone a decent on his day. Did it deserve to be a draw?

Jon Slowey vs Kris Hughes: Kris managed to reverse a controversial defeat to Jon but was it deserved?

I'd like to hear from those who were there how they thought the fights went , if the Scottish lads looked good and if the results on the night were fair!!

Is there anyone who thinks any of these boys can reach higher than domestic level?

i saw the Hughes highlights on Ringside last night and he couldnt miss with the straight left , Slowley offered nothing however it onlys showed you a few rounds

ricky was the main man and carried it all himself,,

same thing happened in Republic of Ireland and no big fights have happened in 5 years after Dunne was beaten

That's my main worry now is that I can't see the next big star coming through, someone will break through but I just don't know when!! I think Josh Taylor will turn pro after and he is a good talent!

hopefully a few good amatuers go pro and get the boxing going again but that also takes years...

it will be interesting to see if Eddie Hearn will put on a card in scotland without Ricky on it,,

I really think Eddie has missed a trick by not having Sky back up in Aberdeen, the atmosphere at Lee vs Shafikov was as good as anywhere i've seen boxing. If Eddie put on a good top of the bill the tickets would sell easy at the Aberdeen Exhibition Centre where he holds the darts. They love their boxing up here and I think he could have built on what Frank Maloney started up here with that show!

If Lee was still fighting there might have been a chance, but he only has 20 shows a year, prizefighter takes up a few, so to put on shows regularly in 2 cities in Scotland isn't an option for him when he's putting shows on in London, Cardiff, Sheffield, Manchester, Liverpool and Hull, then there's Glasgow as well.

My brother Matty is still fighting and although he couldn't top the bill we could sell enough tickets up here with the right top of the bill and Scottish talent!! Eddie is getting Ricky fighting on a bill in Manchester but if he put say Simmons in a title fight with Ricky in an 8 rounder with a good undercard including Matty and Darren Traynor from Aberdeen that kind of show would sell good amounts of tickets and keep Scottish interest!! Look at what he has done in Hull by bringing boxing there imo he should try to get as much interest all around the UK.

He only went to Hull because he had Campbell, so it was more or less nailed on to sell well and Coyle and Woodhouse were available to top the bill for Sky, with Luke being used to sell the show, without him he wouldn't have gone there.

Think you have hit the nail on the head there. I fully expect Simmons to be topping an Edinburgh bill within the next 9 months or so. He's from Edinburgh, and they can have the other Scottish guys that they have been having on the undercard. I'v no idea whether the Meadowbank would be realistic, or what the exact capacity is, but even with us both being on the opposite ends of the liking Matchroom spectrum I think we both know Eddie will have been thinking this as an option to keep boxing ticking over in Scotland while he tries to rebuild Ricky Burns's career.

Maybe it's just me but I have to disagree we sold over 3000 tickets for that show and with more recognised fighters on the bill I think we could have done a lot more!! If Stevie Simmons could sell the tickets to top a bill in Glasgow or Edinburgh I'm sure they would have done it already instead of having to keep Ricky as top billing even when he is short on confidence and could be done with someone else topping the bill to take the pressure off him.

The geography shouldn't matter when there are fighters in the area that could sell most of the tickets with a good top of the bill, there is no Aberdeen dart players in the Darts Premier League but they sell out every year. only my opinion though

Simmons isn't a big enough name to top the bill on TV though, he could do the ticket sales, but Burns sells more and he's a bigger name for TV and if he isn't going to top the bill, he won't fight in Scotland because no one else can top the bill. Even if they tried to push Simmons as the headline act, Ricky would still turn into the de facto headliner unless he was in a nothing fight, just over 4 months ago he was still world champion and if he'd got past Zlaticanin he would have been fighting for a world title in his next fight, he's the biggest draw in Scotland by a long way.

There's only Matty and Darren Traynor from Aberdeen, after that you have to go to Dundee, 60 miles away to find the nearest fighters, whereas there's at least a dozen fighters either from Glasgow or nearby. The darts sells out every week, in almost all of the places they go to none of the players are from there, people buy tickets for the boxing to support a fighter or because it's a big show, people buy tickets for the darts because it's a good night out and a laugh, not because they're there to support anyone or even have any interest in darts. I'm sure they could pull a good crowd in, but a show in Aberdeen is a non starter when they can do bigger crowds in Glasgow and Edinburgh.
