What do people think of the Matchroom Pass announced today? £29.95 annually for up to 10 live cards streamed in HD, working with Dave Coldwell, Steve Wood and Steve Goodwin. Full details at link below, looks a pretty interesting deal to me, obviously would like to see a detailed schedule if possible:

I won't pretend to understand how these things work, but this is the way the world is going.

The only thing is they know what they are going to charge you, but you don't know what you are paying for : "up to 10 live cards" sounds a bit vague.

does this mean normal cards wont be on sky sports or will this mean you wont have to pay for PPV fights anymore other than the pass?

Not parting with no more cash for boxing, already pay for sky and allegedly. Why not put a fight every weekend on sky fast Eddie

Normal cards will still be on Sky sports this is more of a co-promotion with the likes of Goodwin,Coldwell and Woods with there fighters joined with some Matchroom fighters who needs dates.You also get priority booking for tickets on all the other shows and old fights shown the pass as well as exclusive videos and Kugan is doing a weekly show.This could work well if the quality is there but not if not it could be over priced.The ppvs would still be extra I`m afraid.It`s basicly more of the grassroots of the sport and the up and coming fighters and is an interesting concept if they get it right

At £30 a year and being in HD it isn't expensive at all. I'll definitely be getting it, especially as I have a small child and can't get to many, if any, live shows.

They haven`t been given the budget/dates to so unfortunatly.The budget they do have goes on the bigger shows.I don`t blame you for not wanting to pay for more boxing,this package could work but the quality would have to be there imo.It could be worth it for the priority booking to get the tickets I want if he makes the big fights.it was a pain it the are to get tickets for the last 3 Froch fights

Anyone else think this is an attempt to undermine the subscriptions of Bo x N ation ? I'm not saying it is the only reason, or the main reason, but Eddie won't be blind to it.

Am I right in thinking this is for computers only and is not on a TV channel ? Not sure if Fwank ever got round to launching an online version of his channel ?

I'm excited by it, get to watch more boxing in hd. Good platform for the non tv shows and the 1st Live bill is decent and looks to me like Coldwell has had a few extra pennies to add good match ups to the card.

I think the difference is that allegedly is great value for money, where as you dont get great value for your money on sky sport unless you watch other sports as well.

From what you guys are saying the pass seems like a good idea to build up grass roots boxing and push more money towards the promoters who don't usually get their shows televised but you would need to be quite a hard core boxing fan to be shelling out for ppv, sky sports, the matchroom pass, and allegedly. Are there going to be enough subscribers to make it cost effective?

Most people on here seem to either have allegedly or Sky sports.

I'm going take a wait and see attitude. If they end up showing a card I really want to see then I might spring for the service. I dunno though. Between Sky's boxing, allegedly, Eurosport and You Tube I never feel like I am hurting for fights to watch.

I did read today however that extended highlights of Matchroom shows will be added to the website. It doesn't say how soon after the fight. If it was the next day that would certainly make it more appealing.

Full HD is 1080P so they must be partnering with a decent company with a lot of server capacity.

Time will tell but i think most will disagree with that. People stopped buying ppv's for fighters they've heard of, are people going to pay £30 straight out for fighters they havent heard of?

Its like saying fuels only going up 5p a litre, but ontop of the amount you are paying out already its still making buying fuel an expensive prospect.

Also who is the channel aimed at?

Sounds like there's at least a bit of interest for this...I'm glad, think it sounds promising & will be a good way of showcasing domestic fighters. I've always been tempted by the Coldwell app but been put off by its technical problems in the past which I don't imagine the Matchroom version will suffer from.

For the sake of 30 quid I think it's probably worth a look anyway, if it's crap I'll just cancel the following year. It's the kind of thing that hardcore fans have been crying out for for years, so want to at least give it a go.

I think my Boxing Monthly subscription is about 50 quid a year, whicb makes 30 quid a year for up to 10 live cards seem pretty reasonable to me (assuming we actually get anywhere near that many, obviously).

I'm just saying I've got access to more than enough boxing at the moment, and don't feel the need to pay a further £30.00 for a service I might not use or enjoy. I don't mind small hall shows, but don't go out my way to watch or attend them. I'm happy to keep a hold of my money for now until I see how the service evolves over the next 3 to 6 months. If you could pay £2.50 per month, and cancel at any time, I probably would give it a go from the start. That way if I discover it's not for me then I'd only be £2.50 out of pocket.

Think its a decent idea if your local to one of the small hall promoters that are being used and as someone above says cant get to the shows themselves.

But personally while I'm happy to watch boxing on tv such as sky qand allegedly at this kind of level I like to support the local lads/promotions. None of those local to me are pals with Hearn so I'll use the £30 for a ticket to a show.

Don't like the idea of priority tickets for people paying for this. I like rewarding loyalty and loyal fans should get priority on tickets but thats loyalty to boxers no specific promoters. I've been to more Froch fights than Hearn has promoted for example but someone who's paid him £30 a year will get priority over me for his next fight? Hardly seems fair.

Decent enough concept & reasonable enough price. Whether there is a place for it in the current marker time will tell.

Also pretty certain it will only be Matchrooms up & comers that will be appearing on rival promoters shows.

The Fight Pass will cost £29.95 per year. As well as the access to the shows and advance ticket purchasing, exclusive content will include highlights, interviews and magazine show fronted by iFL TV’s Kugan Cassius. Subscribers will also receive a welcome pack including a Matchroom Boxing t-shirt. Pricing for individual fight cards is expected to be announced shortly.

Does this means it's 29.95 PLUS extra money to watch each card?
