Ola Afolabi vs Ovill McKenzie

Sorry lads if ive got your hopes up this fight hasn't been made, not to my knowledge anyhow

But i was thinking about this match up the other day and i was quite surprised i hadn't thought of it before, forget about the CW rematch between Cleverly and Bellew which no-ones really that fussed about,i think this would be a much better fight for fans

Afolabi's got the better pedigree having fought for a world title a few times and has a win over Maccarinelli, whereas McKenzie's win over Enzo was tainted with IJL jumping in way too early plus Enzo KO'd Ovill in the rematch, but going off the last performance i thought Ola looked a bit flat in his 3rd fight with Huck so i'll maybe edge Ovill....just,surely we could have McKenzie's British and Commonwealth belts on the line and if Ovill could pull it off im sure it would go a long way to help getting him the Huck fight

I think it would be a humdinger though and a right 50/50 :box:

Get it on Bunny

saw the title and thought this would be a columbo thread. Ola would be a bit experienced but I'm sure Ovill would take it.

Dont see how you think this fight would be 50/50. I would heavily favour Afolabi. I think it would only be close for the first couple of rounds whilst Mckenzie would be at his most dangerous

Mckenize being overrated due to some ok showings. Ola in a completely different class. Not interested in this.

I agree.

As I said in another thread, I would like to see McKenzie against Bellew - with McKenzie given a date with proper time to prepare, and a neutral ref / judges ........

Not a 50/50 fight, but Ovill could cause some problems. Ola is very inconsistent and in a fairly short period can go from arguably deserving a win over Marco Huck to just getting by Lukasz Janik.

This fight is about as 50/50 as Afolabi is English

McKenzie has a punchers chance but it's a 75/25 fight at best.

I do like McKenzie though and hope he gets a shot at some kind of title. He deserves it.

With all due respect to McKenzie, I cannot see Afolabi taking this fight unless there's a massive purse and/or a world title on the line - regardless of how good the fight would be.

The 2 fighters are on very different levels. I like how Ovill comes across in interviews and admire his boxing; if the 2 men fought it'd go like Ola v Dunstan.

The Dunstan win was an aberration. Ola has several more lackluster wins over uninspiring opponents than he does brutal first round stoppages.

He generally seems to fight to the level of his opposition, and I think Ovill could give him problems for a few rounds before Ola's class showed.
