One of my favorite boxing books of all time is Earnie Shavers 2000 autobiography
WELCOME TO THE BIG TIME!
Because he wrote it mainly with the die-hard boxing fan in mind.
As a matter of fact if anyone here personanlly knows Mr. Shavers
or know of someone who knows him.
I think they should ask Mr. Shavers if he would please write another book on boxing.
Particularly of things he may have heard from other boxers and people in the buisness over the years.
Thats what "boxing historians" just usually do.
so he should just do it too.
What would be some interesting things or people that had contact with Earnie Shavers over
the past 40 years would you like to know more about from him?

One of the reasons that I brought this up was because,I was re-reading the biography of Ron Lyle
OFF THE ROPES by Candance Toft published in 2010.
Curiously although Ron Lyle appears with the author in a photograph on the back cover
apparently Lyle did not participate with the author in the writing of it.
In fact in the acknowlegements in the beginning of the book,
the author thanks Earnie Shavers for supplying her with the information
of Ron Lyle growing up in the Curtis Parks Projects(Northeast,Denver)
during the 1940's and 1950's,so Lyle must have told Earnie Shavers about growing up there
and he told the author what he was told.
