Anybody hear anything from either camp regarding this? I'd be really interested to hear what Groves made of GGG. Footage of them sparring would be fantastic?

Would love to see some footage of this....probably never got filmed though.....

I reckon someone would of filmed it. Whether it gets made public is a totally different matter.

Murata was sparring with GGG a few days ago and I know that WAS filmed. It's not been made public but I have a feeling all the sparring there is filmed.

Look out for the HBO stuff they do before the fight maybe some one that be low key though

All sparring is filmed. Particularly if they wanted to get the most out of the exercise. It's always beneficial for a fighter and his trainer to sit down and watch, and rewatch the sparring to see how the fighter can improve.

According to the Bunce podcast today, Groves floored GGG in sparring and GGG busted up Groves's ribs. Anybody else hear about this?

I heard that the rumor of Groves dropping GGG originated from a questionable source (someone on Groves' team) and I'm not sure where the other rumor started. Is Bunce really stating those things as if they're factual?

I struggle to believe Groves having dropped GGG. The guys jaw is possibly better than Froch's and he's never been down in 400 odd amateur fights aswell as his pro fights and he used to spar Kovalev aswell.

I wouldn't be too surprised. We all know Groves can crack. Nobody thought he could have dropped Froch heavily in the first round, but it happened. I remember seeing an interview with Haye where he mentioned that Groves spars hard and even when they sparred together Groves was trying to knock him out.

Groves dropped Froch, a much bigger man than Golovkin with a proven Iron chin vs Kessler twice , Ward, Abraham, Bute, Groves twice etc. why couldn't he drop GGG?

It's very possible.

I'd imagine that Groves is 180lb+ plus right now - whereas 2 weeks ago Golovkin would have been boiling down to 160lb

I could believe it, Groves hits damn hard, accurately and has fast hands.

A few of us thought it.

George is a world class puncher. Stuff happens in sparring, as G0mez said, George will be a big guy at the minute, he doesn't do 12st comfortably.

That is true but Froch has atleast looked buzzed in the past against Kessler and even very briefly against Dirrell. I've never seen Golovkin look remotely buzzed throughout his career upto now. Kovalev even apparantly was scared to spar with him.

It was Abel Sanchez who said it that obviously trains GGG. He also trained Kovalev aswell though and they used to spar together when that was the case. Kovalev didnt enjoy it one bit apparantly.

I honestly don't know, it'd be interesting to see how Golovkin liked it, he wouldn't be able to push Froch back wards, he'd have to respect Froch's power and how does he do after 7/8 rounds with a guy like Carl who seems to come into his own in the last few rounds? I think Froch would beat him, he might not stop him but I think he wins a decision, and may actually even stop him late. It really depends on how good Golovkin truly is, we were in the position a few years ago with Abraham and I was worried for Froch, and it turned out to be one of his best performances.

You know, I seriously doubt that this is true.

I realise that Groves did knock him down in the first fight, but they sparred together years ago when Groves was only starting out his professional career and he hadn't matured in to the fighter that he was when he did eventfully meet Froch.

Could a really young Groves have put a prime Froch down? I really don't think so.

Those are good points. I think skillset wise though, Golovkin is a different kettle of fish to Abraham who was very one dimensional although could punch. I think GGG is fair bit more skilled although im not totally on the bandwagon as I think he gets hit too much at times.

The opponents haven't been good enough for me to make GGG a favourite against Froch. This is all based on Daniel Geale who was beaten by Barker who in turn lasted a millisecond against an 800 billion year-old Sturm.
