Anyone else think he's getting too big for his boots and trying to steer the managerial and promotional side of things? This doesnt make Crolla look good at all

Yeah i agree that he is getting to big for his boots but i have got to agree with what he is saying there about the Lundy fight. He is just saying it straight. There is no value in him fighting lundy in mu opinion

His record with his fighters speaks for itself but a trainers job is to train his fighters. Of course he can have his opinions but at the end of the day its down to his promoter and manager who his fighters get in the ring with. When Callum Smith was getting interviewed and was asked a question Joe Gallagher felt the need to but in and answer the question himself, its things like that that gets peoples backs up its nothing to do with him not being a great trainer

he deserves all he gets, and it's not his head on, it's his eyes on, every other fuckers fighters. the only man to fall out with kerry kays. and the most overrated coach in england by far. but i must admit he's done well for himself especially since he's never had a gym of his own, in his life, what we call a first class chancer.

Im not Joe Gallagher's biggest fan just from the way he comes across in interviews etc but I still think that if I was a fighter, he is the type of trainer I'd like in my corner. He seems to focus on all his camp very well, doesn't let them cut any corners, 100% hands on with the training, creates a team spirit in his gym and seems to care for his fighters on a personal level. For they reasons above, he certainly gets my respect. (I haven't got the slightest bit of inside info on the guy, thats just how I see it judging by twitter and ringside etc)
Its also in his interests to do what he can to keep his fighters on a winning streak, if that means advising them on opponents then so be it. He will know better than anyone what his fighters are capable of and won't make much money being in the corner of fighters who are taking a beating.

Fighters will fight , generally anyone , its rare you get a fighter who says himself i don't want it he's too big or he's to good or whatever .
Promoters will put fighters in and not give a fack ,about the fighter there motivation is filling the card and making money , and the only time most promoters will worry about the outcome , is when they have inveted heavilly in a fighter and want to keep him winning .
Most managers are all rigt but quite alot are more interested in keeping up good relationships with the promoter thinking of there own future , and not wanting to be sat out of the clique and not being able to get fights .
Who does that leave , THE TRAINER , and being the trainer is usually the closest , alls i can say is LISTEN TO YOUR FACKING TRAINER , especielly if you know they care for the welfare of all the other lads in the gym .

Whatever it is with him it seems to be working well so far and he's got the best stable in the country and the atmosphere seems good and their all very loyal to Joe and he's loyal to them,he's what a trainer should be and he should have an opinion on who his boys fight although not a say

Part of the supposed winning run is due to the level of opponents. He's got fringe world class guys fighting domestic level opponents. It's a bit like the Ali Raymi run. Looks great on paper but in reality it's a mirage.

l
How many 50/50 fights have his guys been involved in within the last year? Look at that then you will have your anwser why hes been so successful. He need to do his job, hes not a manager or promoter. And for the record if this fight happens lundy wins all day hes proven at the top level where as crolla is prven domestic level but for me not even the best lightweight in Manchester.

Murray had boxed 6 rounds in just over 2 years before the fight, against a pair of blown up featherweights, before that Mitchell had taken him apart and Rios had really done a number on him, he took some serious punishment that night. Murray was on the slide, I still thought he'd have enough for Crolla, but he blew himself out trying to stop Crolla in 4 rounds and faded late on. If we're calling that a 50-50, fine, but can you name any others?
And if suggesting that Gallagher isn't actually a great trainer and his fighters pad their records out at domestic level, then claim they deserve a world title fight makes me a tosser, so be it, I'd happily say it to his face.

To be fair 4 of Crolla's last 5 fights could be classed as 50 / 50 as could Smith v Buckland and at least 1 of Quiggs recent outings

Agree on Crolla
Stephens smith 3 opponents since buckland (which was a 50/50) have regressed yet there is talk of a world title shot for him, not sure how that works??
Paul smith has not had a relevant fight in 3 years since getting ko in 2 by George groves yet he gets s title shot
Quigg IMO is currently on course for fighting worse opponents than byrns did in his world title reign. All that will change if he fights Frampton though,

The thing I don't like about all this is his sense of entitlement. He has seen Paul Smith undeservedly get a title shot, Stephen Smith also looks like getting one after fighting 3 no hopers in a row. Crolla the only one in his stable who has been matched hard in good 50/50 fights, and that's because he has had to. He now thinks crolla should sit and wait fighting no hopers until a title shot arrives. Now don't get me wrong I like and I rate Crolla but whos he beat to deserve a shot? Murray and Rees are good wins but shouldn't get you a title shot.

Why wouldn't I? I haven't said anything abusive, just given my opinion on Joe Gallagher and his stable, I'd rather be honest than blow smoke up his arse. If he can't take a bit of criticism, then he's in the wrong game.

In Stephen Smiths defence 2 of the guys were WBC ranked unlike Paul who hasn't beaten anybody in the WBO top 15 or even close to it.
