Dissapointed about the main fight but there are some good fights, in particular Catterall v Brough and the Saunders fight

If you don't like the prices don't pay them. Personally I think that at normal ticket prices I'd struggle to find a better show in the country this year.

Don't mention Flanagan v Geithin or Heffron v Williams haha.

Chisora/Fury for the European and British HW belts as well as being a world title eliminator
Mathews/Flanagan for the British LW title
Smith/Mansouri for the British LMW title
Sykes/Walsh British/Commonwealth SFW unification fight

Welborn was a beast at welter but had very limited boxing skills so looked good winning the midlands title but that level is his absolute limit. Since he loses a lot of his size advantage at LM, he's even less effective

I wouldn't go that far granted its a match I don't see Welborn winning but my point was he's a 'live' opponent it aint some latvian journeyman that the original poster suggested. Welborn won an eliminator for the British and after Mansouri pulled out really was towards the top end of the posisble opponents.

Its still more of a competitive match than 99% of that last Matchroom card.

fair do's i jumped the gun before realising he was a late-ish replacement. not sure beating a 15-15-6 Carruthers qualifies as an eliminator though?

Carruthers' record doesn't do him any justice at all to be honest. Don't forget Carruthers beat Nav Mansouri (who should have been the challenger) and drew with Liam Smith (the champion).

I was at the Welborn/Carruthers fight and in fairness (which probably adds more sway to your argument than mine) it was a very evenly matched fight. Carruthers out worked Welborn for a lot of the early rounds. However Welborn looked the stronger as the fight went on. He did seem to be turning it around when he got the stoppage (round 8) on cuts but if not for the cuts I had it heading for a draw (and that was based on Welborn winning the last 3 rounds). Cracking fight mind.

ha, i knew the 'Carruther's record doesn't tell the whole story' argument would come out

this might be too simplistic but i look at it this way, if Carruthers wouldn't make a good challenger for the british title (i don't believe he would, no offence to the guy) then why should beating him make Welborn one?

i admit i am being a bit harsh on a last-minute replacement. we've all seen a lot worse

Was a good card. It has a few ok fights on now but lets be fair its a copperbox card without a main event and the rest of the injury pull outs.

Only thing i'm dissapointed in is it doesn't start till 7pm on allegedly. Not going to get to see all the fights.

It was supposed to be starting at 7 but after Chisora pull out I read on allegedly site its a half 8 start now,I hope not

I can't see any reason why they can't show the entire bill live, it's his channel and only old repeats on there so it would be nice to sit and watch the lot
