See the thing about it is that I thought Olivares was brilliant this season. Fought in a lot of good fights, rarely baked down from the challenge of fighting other great fighters.

Definitely worth a mention.

IMO Olivares has been fantastic. But not Super 6.

I think not only should people look at current rankings and belts won, but also how they defended the belts, plus who they faced. To me, somebody winning only two belts, with maybe 15 defenses is more impressive than a fighter with 4 belts and two defenses.......

It was a tough call on the last few. I could have easily switched out two guys.....

But Brown had probably the sickest defence streak. Jofre, McGovern, Morales.

Brown was my last guy out. I might slip him back in before the poll closes. The last few spots were really tough calls...

I think that George Dixon deserves to get mentioned in this conversation as well, he was always near the top echelon all throughout the season.

I actually think that this has been the most difficult season thus far to judge the six guys for The Super Six.

I would have included my man, Gomez, for his vicious KO of Jofre, as well as two razor thin decision losses, as well as his (farcical) draw with JCC. However, I think the guys I have picked probably deserve it

it seems as if titles won is the measure for success to be entered into the tournament so I've decided to do a little analysis with emphasis on World Title bouts and defenses.


Sixto Escobar is the lowest in the current commissioner's rankings but he started off great and although he has fallen quite a bit down the ranking ladder recently his early season success makes him a candidate. he competed in 15 world title fights with 6 defenses.


Ruben Olivares might have been in the most exciting fights this season and was reasonably successful winning 3 world title bouts in 7 total fights but didn't manage to get a single defense of any of those titles.


Panama Al Brown is coming off a Split Decision loss to Harada(i have to say i was a little surprised he didn't make the cut) who beat him 2 out 3 fights, but that being said hies fought mostly nothing but the best fighters out there and many of his losses are Split Decisions. In total he competed in 8 world title fights and had 3 defenses


Terry McGovern is next on the rankings and is the seasons KO king(20 KO's, 58.8%), he was the first to claim all 4 major titles and has fought pretty good competition for the most part but also has just lost to Dixon, who is also up for consideration. in 13 world title fights he managed 2 defenses.


Manny Pacquiao was also reasonably successful but hes pretty much in the same boat as Olivares by never being able to defend any of the tiles he won, 10 world title fights 0 defenses.


Wilfredo Gomez seemed to have a roller coaster type of season beating Jofre in the very first week but also losing some fights where he clearly was the favorite, all in all a respectable season for Mr. Gomez with 9 world title fights and 3 defenses.


George Dixon has been near the very top all season and has only lost 4 times and has consistently fought top competition and has beaten many of the super six candidates. The Draw King has been in 13 world title fights with 6 defenses and is only one of two men who earned unification rights with 2 titles.


Erik Morales seemed to have a slow start but things really picked up for him during the MDT, which he won by defeating the #1 ranked Jofre and staked his claim to all the titles the sim has to offer. he was in 9 world title fights and managed 3 defenses.


Pete Herman has been one of the best all year and in my opinion is a lock for this tournament with the most world title fights with 15(tied with Escobar and Jofre) and the most world title defenses with 9 in total.


Jimmy Barry is the current #2 ranked and also has all the World titles but his path to the top has been questionable Having said that he did beat the Million Dollar Champion in Morales' first and only defense of the Undisputed championship and he has lost only 1 fight all season which is impressive even if some of his competition has been less than great. in total Jimmy Barry has competed in 7 world title fights and has 2 defenses.


Eder Jofre is the best fighter this season so far and should be a lock as well performing in 15 world title fights and getting 8 defenses.


hopefully this helps everyone out to make the right choices.

I will make my choices later because this took me a little bit of time and I have other things to take care of right now.

I may have undersold my guy, Gomez, a tad. 1st round KO's of Dixon and McGovern, avenging the loss to Herman are balanced with losses to Olivares, 1-1 with Pac and SD losses (controversialy going down 1-2) to Jofre.
