At seperate times of course. Over 12 rounds at 168 pounds. How do you see these fights going?

I believe that Calzaghe would have found a way to beat Nigel Benn by a late stoppage, but Chris Eubank at his best night would have found a way to decision Calzaghe. I am not saying that it would have been pretty, but I would go with Eubank.

I think most sane heads would have Calzaghe beating Benn by late stoppage and UD-ing Eubank.

Joe would stop Benn in late rounds and beat Eubank by close decision.

That's a shame. I thought you were suggesting a WWF style handicap match.

I am pretty sure Joe beats both; he was still pretty green when he beat Eubank and I still think that rates as one of his best nights at the office. Loved Benn to bits but I don't see him beating Joe either.
Robin Reid got the closest of the Brits to really challenge Joe and no doubt that result still rankles the Reaperman.....looking back on Rob's career you can't help feeling that he was just a couple of fights away from being a break-out star and household name with all that power, model boy looks and charisma.

Considering a green Calzaghe, who hadn't been past 8 rounds beat Eubank at 168lb by UD, I think this would be the case again. JC outpoints Benn as well, maybe a late stoppage.

I could see Joe possibly outpointing both . I couldn't picture him stopping either but I can picture Benn stopping him. I think Calzaghe vs a prime Eubank would be boring and debatable.

Apart from Nardiello and Warton, he looked poor during his brief reign.

Eubank was shot to bits when he faced Joe. His next two fights showed that.
Not to mention Eubanks career after the whole Watson incident.
Prime v Prime:
I think Eubank takes a comfortabe UD
I feel Benn could get the stoppage - at the same time i can see Joe edging a decision.

styles make fights
as much as i like eubank i think joe can outpoint him although a benn 1 performance would see him win
benn would ko joe, he come in with his windmill wide open and been with his massive punch would catch him early, joe never fought a puncher like benn

I think Calzaghe still contends that the Eubank fight was the hardest of his career. This is against an ageing, on the slide Eubank that had to drop something like 40lbs in weight to make 168. I am fairly sure he was scheduled to fight Mark Prince so in training but admits he had to dump a lot of weight.

I was there that night, it was a good fight. Calzaghe was hurt right at the end of the fight too.
Peak for Peak it's a hard pick as Eubank could be content to strut and be economical. I think Calzaghe's higher output and workrate are the deciding factors. I still think as raw as Benn could be at times, that he has what it takes to push Calzaghe harder than Eubank ever would. Sometimes I think Benn would get stopped, sometimes I think Benn could do it.

I'm almost exactly with Orbtastic on this. Calzaghe would take a wide lead vs Eubank, who never fought anyone with the ability to throw that many punches (Benn threw a lot, but rushing in face first). Prime Eubank had a tremendous will to win though, which was greater than any of this other abilities, and he would give Joe absolute hell in the deep water, with a reasonable chance to take him out late. It wouldn't be over til the bell sounded. A prime Benn, though, is going to put pressure on Joe from the opening bell, and had the motor to keep doing it, and I can see him winning 3 out of 4.

I think Benn's abilities as a supermiddle are being overstated here. He was a bigger puncher at middle, and was markedly less dynamic as a supermiddle. A prime Calzaghe dominates both on the score cards. I think he stops Benn in 8 or 9. It's one-sided.

Thinking about the Watson fight, I can see your point, but my heart still says Benn.

Calzaghe would undoubtedly beat both. His speed would be the difference.

Joes fight with Eubank doesn't tell us much. Eubank was past his best and Calzaghe was a long way short of reaching his.
As it happens i thing prime for prime, Joe wins both by decision.

Quite uncivilised like to suggest you speak for all sane humanity.
Benn would outpoint joe
Eubanks was shot and weight drained in 97.the Eubanks of 90-91 has too much hunger and wins on points

Benn couldn't even outpoint Sugar Boy Malinga. He should have lost both times. It does not bode well against Joe.

I think Benn would TKO Joe....can't call the Eubank fight - it could go either way on the scorecards

Watson beats Calzaghe for me.
Eubank is awkward enough pre-watson that he runs joe very, very close.
Benn has early success but eventually gets outhustled and oupointed.

I would pay a helluva lota money to see Prime Joe (Lacy fight) V Prime Benn (McClellan fight). And I'd edge Benn because I can't see anyone being able to beat him on that night.

Eubank shot? No he wasn't, he fought twice at cruiserweight against one of the hardest punching cruiserweights in the world after Calzaghe and put up a good fight too !!!

i'd favour calzaghe, but benn and eubank proved they could pull out great performances sometimes. with benn it only took 1 shot to change a fight, and we see an unprepared eubank give calzaghe a very hard fight in real life.
