If Bernard Hopkins was able to gain eough weight to make the minimum as a heavyweight 8 to 10 years ago, do you think he would have been able to beat Wladimir Klitschko?
Or.....
If Bernard had the same slick skills and talent, and his weight was in the 210-220 lb area, do you think he could have beaten Wlad?
:?? :?? :?? :??

That is about as realistic.

I've pondered the same question frequently.
I'd go with "El Finito" by split decision, if he's not too drained by having fought Carbajal and Chiquita in back-to-back dream fights.

How would he do that? Has Wlad shown mental weakness against fighters with no power?

No, he would have gotten destroyed.
And there is no minimum weight for Heavyweight. He could fight there right now if he wanted.

Hopkins would have been completely outgunned due to the size and power differential. Even a blocked punch from Wlad could break Hopkins in half. The idea of the very low output Hopkins out-landing the high volume, accurate, rangey Wlad in any round is preposterous. Bernard's only possible legitimate game plan would be that he would have to outside box like Holyfield - Valuev or Haye - Valuev; but Wlad is not very sluggish considering that he's a heavyweight. Ring size would be a factor, but not really.

Exactly.. and add the fact Vlad has fast educated feet for a heavyweight with a dynamite jab it all points to one outcome.

I don't think Hopkins would be as silly as some of these threads.

When Povetkin was the WBA champions, Hopkins was interested in fight him. He knows that he doesn't have any chance againts Wladimir. Now that Chagaev is WBA champion, it wouldn't be surprised if Hopkins fights againts him although I would prefer a Hopkins vs Kovalev before the year ends.

Don't you have to be above the limit of the next lower class (cruiser)?

Why? Roy Jones was 193 when he beat Ruiz.

You can't weigh more than the maximum weight of a weight class, but you are free to weigh less. I'm sure some commissions would step in and stop some fights they deemed unfair, as is their prerogative. But yeah theoretically you can fight in any weight class as long as your under its max weight. Ali Raymi vs Canelo anyone?

199... That was the actual weight.
Either way, I think back then the Cruiser limit was 190, I could be wrong though

No. He wouldn't. While he is 10 times the fighter Klitschko is on a p4p basis, he'd be giving up too much physically.

Ismael El Massoudi was 137.25lbs when he beat Mbaye for the WBA interim 147 title

He was indeed, but this particular bout was WELL after M'baye lost THAT bet to Rees. Ismael El Massoudi beat M'baye and then later lost his belt to Chaves.

Given BJ's to Wlad much lately?? A "Blocked Punch", lol that's some serious hobknobbing there.
Grabimir Bitchko would be too slow and his simple strategy of throwing one shot and hugging wouldn't work, Nard picks him apart with counters because he's too slow.

Your trolling has been weaker since your ban. You'll have to dust off those cobwebs a bit more, gramps.
