Sergio if unfit which i can only assume he will be,might make Sturm look devastating again like he was against a fooked Barker,i really thought Sturm looked great in the 2 rounds against Barker despite Darren clearly being finished but i really did think the first Soliman loss would make Felix up his game coz he knew he was in last chance saloon but i didnt see the Soliman rematch but apparantly it was the same old Sturm, which is a shame as he's a boxer i rate highly but he just doesnt do enough work to win rounds against fighters he's clearly superior to,technically
I have to go with a Sturm win here, mainly on the fact that Martinez's body looks ravaged

Gotta give it to Sturm.
Re: Sergio Martinez-Felix Sturm a possibility, says promoter
Would be smart business for Sturm but also classic Sturm. He was deathly afraid to fight any of the big boys when they were at or near their primes. Now that Martinez is an old, shot planter with arms, Sturm can make history by beating the shell of someone who was always his superior. I could see him finally fighting Abraham in a few years as well, as soon as Abraham's career grinds to a close.
Would rather Sturm give 3G three minutes in the ring

X2 nothing to prove and a lot to lose, he looked terrible v Cotto and Sturm is a solid boxer.

Im not sure what he's really looking for here. I mean, a fight against felix sturm cant possibly be THAT big of a payday. What is he trying to accomplish? Going out on his own terms maybe?

Gennady says he would love fight with Sturm. Do you think he'd need the full three minutes?giacomino wrote:Would be smart business for Sturm but also classic Sturm. Sturm is tough. He could go 4-5 rounds.Teddy's Toupee wrote:Gennady says he would love fight with Sturm. Golovkin is very destructive and fights with intelligence; even the monster hitter Julian Jackson went the distance sometimes though.
Golovkin is the best at middleweight, he's a very impressive fighter. I don't think Cotto would get through to the 9th and he'd be in a right old state.

The thread is about Martinez and Sturm. How did it slide to Cotto vs GGG ?
By the way, Stieglits is talking Sturm fight too.

Sturm is still fit and healthy and looked a very capable boxer the last bout I saw him in. Martinez looked awful v Cotto and the 2 fights before that he looked crocked. Martinez is done at world title level, Macklin or Murray would beat him easily now. Sturm would knock him silly.

Sergio has no business fighting anyone at this point. His legs and his reflexes are gone. I don't want to see him end up like Roy Jones, losing to everyone and their brother.
Re: Sergio Martinez-Felix Sturm a possibility, says promoter
I tend to agree with the consensus that Sturm would probably take the fight at this point. I think it's a winnable fight for Martinez vs the other possibilities out there but I still wouldnt be that sure of his chances based on his last fight.

Re: Sergio Martinez-Felix Sturm a possibility, says promoter
If Sergio is really not retiring, this is a good fight for him. Sturm isn't a big power puncher so it's a stiff test but not one that is overly dangerous physically.
I also wonder if JCCJr is trying to make the rematch happen now.

Re: Sergio Martinez-Felix Sturm a possibility, says promoter
If Cotto was able to hurt Sergio, so is Sturm. JCCJ will never make 160 again. If he could, Sergio should have stayed away from him.jujigatame wrote:If Sergio is really not retiring, this is a good fight for him.
