Yes, he is the best SMW in the world, but he is not a true champion, he barely ever fights, he should not be allowed to hold onto any belt.

Leave the guy alone. His promoter doesn't do a good job. Andre only owns a WBA SUPER belt which means that the regular belt is up for grabs.

Take his belts? Get real. I do agree he's messing his prime years up with money issues. And reluctance to travel. I'd think activity would keep him sharp...maybe he's so good it does nt matter how long he rests between fights. He's finally heathy too

You're right not to care, but Ward is the WBA Super and Froch is the Unified champ

A true champion is a fighter who may not necessarily fight anyone, but is best friends with his promoter.

I don't give a shit about the belts, but if he doesn't defend within the prescribed time then the organization that owns the belt has the right and responsibility to strip him of it and make the next two highest ranked contenders fight for it. Make him champion in recess, and when he is able to fight again give him an immediate shot at the belt he used to own. Pretty straight forward imo. You can't have someone holding onto a belt for more than a year irregardless of what is keeping him from fighting. It is not fair to the boxers underneath him who are waiting for a title shot.

That's how he lost the wbc, he also refused the emeritus status out of principle as he felt, with some justifion, that being stripped was harsh.
It is a shame that he doesn't fight more often as he is in his prime, but I think 'super' champs have a longer period between mandatory defense

he is the best boxer in the world p4p. I think he Needs to get that Problem solved and not waste prime years. he should contact a big Promotor like GBP and let them buy him out from the goosen contract.

Ward is a lot better than Abraham, but Abraham got way more heart as a fighter and he actually defends his belts. Ward got skills, but no heart, no will to do anything in boxing, he just wants to keep the Champion status for as long as possible before he's forced to defend again.

The scarecrow from the Wizard of Oz could see this is about more than you are suggesting.

The belt that really needs to get taken is Mayweather's WBC Light Middleweight title. He hasn't fought at 154 in two years.
