With quillin, cotto and now soliman out the picture either running away or taking different fights your not left with much for triple g as he has seen of nearly all the contenders and pretenders, so you got to look at some wild card options, fighters like Brian Vera, David Lemieux, Sergio Mora and Willie Monroe jr, out of the names I above I would like to see Lemieux cause at least it would be fun while it lasts

Mostly I would like to see him vs Quillen next. I think Quillen is a big puncher but raw and would get KO'd within 8 rounds. I like Quillen, think he is a good offensive fighter, but then GGG would break him down and stop him.

I have to edit again to say that I don't think Quillen will fight GGG. I heard him say he wouldn't fight Lara no way! He doesn't deserve the belt like a lot of them unless he steps up. Showtime/HBO doesnt matter. $$$.

As far as lower-tier opponents go (the type he fights in Monaco), I'd like to see him face Lemieux. Sure, he is limited, but GGG has been running over everyone anyway and at least Lemieux can really crack.

Martin Murray? Clottey (just kidding). Another little-known Euro fighter? His time is coming...I think he'll fight a blown up SMW within 6 months. Like an A. Abraham-type, Chavez, etc. Direll perhaps? Tough to guess immediate future

none of the other 3 major titlists have signed to fight anybody, yet.
he shouldn't fight anybody except the other champions, even if he has
to toss the idiotic "superchampion" (whatever that means) belt and
become the #1 mandatory for the others. he should probably just toss the
superchamp belt, anyway. all the superchamps should toss those belts
all at once in one press conference. give the belts all to a charity auction
to help sick kids or something. from now on, they all just call it the
punk title and recruit as many members of the media to subsitiute the
letters w-b-a with p-u-n-k, and berate any fighter who pays a sanctioning
fee for that stupid title, until the wba puts an end to the superchamp idiocy.

i doubt it would happen but a froch fight would be a fun fight

With BHop fighting Kovalev, Quillin doesn't have excuses to not fight GGG.

Why can't GGG fight Ward @ 168 or Mayweather @ 160 ?

This is why I HATE all these divisions. Keeps good fights from happening.

6-8 LBS should NOT keep one of those matchups from occurring.

David Lemieux is featured in this month's Boxing Monthly and it was good read, he's still looking to put people's lights out whenever he can and is not turning away from being a full-on power puncher. But he reckons his stamina is much improved and that he is now fully-developed and got his man strength. Would not be nearly enough against Golvokin I reckon, who'd be able to pull the trigger first, but I'd pay the fee to watch David give it a go.

and it will be his first defense of the 154 in a year, with 16 months before that
fighting for it. floyd is not a real 154lb fighter. he is capabale of beating 154lb'ers
but he is going up in weight to do it. if 6-8lbs isn't a big deal, someone could
just as easily say then GGG should go down to 154, which would be the only
way that fight would ever happen, and still not likely because floyd earns
exponentially more than ggg fighting welters (on showtime, not hbo ggg's network).

I agree it won't happen because of politics and money. I don't know if GGG would be comfortable @ 154. Certainly if someone "starves" to make weight they will be weak. But if a fighter considers themselves great like Mayweather, he should be able to weigh about 150 or 154 and beat GGG when GGG is 160 IMO.

after winning national amateur titles from 106-125, floyd is undefeated as a pro after 23 major world
title fights at 130, 135, 140, 147, and 154, and fought all but a few of the best 130-147.
whether or not he deserves to consider himself great, how many in his generation in
any weight class have comparable accomplishments? there can't be more than a few in that group.
i almost look at floyd fighting GGG as i would floyd then fighting ward and then kovalev.
what's a few more pounds? that could keep going forever

I am Golovkin's fan but I think it is unfair to ask 37-year old Floyd who is a WW to fight GGG at 160.

A fight at 154 seems to be a fair deal though. Of course, Floyd has safer options with the same kind of money involved, so I doubt that the fight will ever happen.

Carl Froch.

Make triple G go up in weight to 168 vs Kessler, Bute; Pascal, if he can KO; Kessler and Pascal I'd be shocked. Bute; little easier. Nobody 160 and Below should mess with him. It would not be pretty. Also Froch and Chavez Jr would be very interesting.

He's KO'd Bute already, as an amatuer with the headguard and the big gloves. It's on Youtube and it's damn impressive. Bute's a light heavy anyway and a frail one at that.

It's Froch that's the best fight for the fans out there. I think it'll happen, but next year. It has to be worth Froch's while, but he won't duck GGG if the fight makes sense I'm sure of that. Kessler would be good too and has already said he wants him.

I agree Kessler would be a good fight.

Cotto makes sense, but is unlikely to be available for a GGG fight until late 2015, provided he wins his next two. Forget Cotto.

Quillin makes sense but seems unwilling.

Alvarez makes sense, but like Cotto, is unlikely to be available until late 2015.

Soliman makes sense, but provided he wins his next fight (which is no certainty) is unlikely to be available until early 2015. He has expressed interest in fighting GGG before and if he wins his next fight, I think it will happen, just not this year.

Chavez Jr at 168 makes sense, but I think he is more likely to fight Froch.

Andre Ward at 168 would be an outstanding fight, but the risk vs money doesn't add up for GGG. I think and hope this fight will happen down the track, but not anytime soon.

Mayweather at 154 makes sense for GGG but not for Floyd - I can't see this fight ever happening.

I think the best options at this stage are Lemieux, Rubio and Korobov, followed by a bunch of guys at 168 like Stieglitz, Rodriguez, Kessler and Vera

Whoever it is, I guarantee you it'll be disappointing.

If it is Kessler, it is not disappointing. If GGG KOs Kessler who Froch couldn't even drop, it will be satisfying. Abel Sanchez says that Gennady haven't even punched anybody in a fight with 100% of his force, so maybe he will have to do it with bigger guys.

I don't have a habit to think that everybody is a liar. A trainer who sees what happens in sparrings and can feel punches of different boxers hitting mitts can actually be correct saying things like that. By the way, Sanchez trained Kovalev at some point.
