King Kong Boxing, the manager of Luis Ortiz, has announced Luis Ortiz vs. Lateef Kayode (WBA #5) is on for Thursday September 11. It is sanctioned by the WBA for an interim WBA heavyweight title.

the more of these fights the better for wladimir for 2 reasons

1. can fight people coming off reasonable wins

2. one less weaker option to fight

This is a good fight on paper. I'd like to see Kayode get the win. He's not a world class operator but I've always liked him. Ortiz is lazy, which even the fight up even though Ortiz is technically better.

Ortiz should win this easily. Didn't kayode draw with tarver?

Kayode clearly defeated Tarver I thought, draw was a BS home decision. Still I dont give him a chance in hell against Ortiz. Too big, too technical, too strong.

Why is it that in these 'contenders' matches, they pick the least known and least cared about people to be fighting?

Call it a title match all you want, but this is a rather weak bout. At least on paper.

Kayode has had 2 wins at heavyweight against Travis Fulton and 9-7 Jonte Willis, it is laughable that he can get a title shot.
