Kell was also training there at same time..
Never seen anything like it for a Big fight like this - somewhat amateurish...I blame fast Eddie :DD

Porter reminds me Tyson a bit..short, stocky leaping left jab/hook- the more I think about it the more sure I am that Kell is getting taken out like a dear in the headlights sadly

Hopefully Porter will turn out to be another Lacy who can be exposed by Brook,Im not knocking Porter he's a great fighter but i think the Malignaggi win flattered him,it was always on the cards that someone was eventually put Paulie away early after late stoppages to Hatton and Khan, obviously the Alexander was a great win but Devon can be discouraged,if Kell just boxes his fight and not be scared of Porter's power then he can pick Porter apart, thats how highly i rate Brook,he doesnt have to go over there as an underdog but as the A-side of the fight and future star, here to stay :bag: :bag:

Lacy never beat anyone as good as Alexander or Malignaggi.

Porter is not another Lacy. Brook is the Lacy if anyone is.

Porter is actually somewhat underrated as a boxer I think. He's definietly not as good as Brook on the outside but he's not completely reckless on the whole like he was in the Malignaggi or Alexander fights where he felt their power and obviously didnt fear it. He works his way in intelligently and he's also very good at getting in under the jab and rolling under shots because of the fact he's a near on dwarf.

He looked sharp. But the choice of someone so tall and readable was odd.

That was good to watch, Porter's feet are VERY good, switches angles very smoothly and rolls under the jab quickly. Kell's in for a long (or short) night imo, if he hasn't sorted his chin in air/back in straight lines defense out he's gonna get his head taken off

Good watch, but why is he sparring someone so tall who is flicking jabs out in a robotic style???

Of course he can roll under it so easy as the other dude is a giant compared. Will brook have that same height and reach advantage????

I think for kell to win he needs to put porter to sleep or be so wide it's unquestionable.

Eddie should have made this his blockbuster to open the winter up and paid whatever they wanted to get him over here

Porter looked sharp but very strange choice of sparring, upright, rangy fighter?

ive also heard somewhere that Porter believes that Brook has a standard upright European style, think it was on IFilm.

if they have actually prepared for someone like that then it could be Porter whos in for a long night because Kell throws from all sorts of angles.

Well Kell is actually pretty upright to be honest. I agree on the angles comment though. Porter has said in interviews that he has watched a lot of footage of Kell anyway so im sure he knows what to prepare for. Whether he can combat it or not is another matter.

yeah i suppose but i just think he has better head movement than a your standard upright European boxer, not amazing but better.

i hope hes sorted out the walking back in straight lines and hanging around on the ropes also, as that could wind him in a lot of trouble.

everyone forgets the 1st Carson Jones fight brook handed out a boxing lesson for about the first 6 or 7, hopefully he will do the same against porter and sustain it

Guys, it was a bit of technique/drill work with a kid from the gym. He's worked with guy closer to Kell's size and style in his hard spars. James Toney used to spar everybody in the gym, from rank novices up, just to work on stuff and programme the muscle memory.

Porters dad said in another interview that, that the guy was the chief sparring partner for this camp.

The more I listen to Porters dad the less inclined I am to believe anything that he says.

I very much doubt Kell would do his serious sparring or anything integral to his plan if any of Porters team were present. I think it shows a degree of confidence on Porters part.

Agreed - he is just taking the pressure off his son which you cannot complain about but the drug testing etc surely that is worked out with both parties not his decision.

I know Kell well and it was agreed on both sides this is why they had alot of confusion over why they were not tested until recently.

He also named Ismail Silakh another tall lanky fighter. Strange choice of sparring partners.

Though if he can avoid and get under a long jab a shorter jab may be easier to avoid on the night?

A jab travels from A to B , so a shorter fighter could throw it faster and get it back in position.

That's a pretty mad one. Silakh is very fast and very skilled. Aside from being a light heavy!

Yeah, you're probably right GOmez. I've read the interview in this weeks Boxing News with Porter and I think he's got to be favourite. He has always been good class and it is clear he's been in a different league to Kelly amateur and pro, sparring included.
