Personally, I think Hatton would be better of with the BBC and Fight Academy.

I am beginning to wonder if Warren has actually got the money to make the big fights happen.

Intersting, although I'm not that suprised that Ricky has finally spoken out, I'm sure in one way he's quite happy to be making good money (I assume) selling out the M.E.N. 3 or 4 times a years.

However if Ricky is a real champion he will crave the competition of testing himself against the top guys in his division and beyond.

This may even be the start of the end of the Hatton/Warren partnership or or Ricky will just say he was missquoted and it will all be forgotten about in a few months time.

Time will tell, but we may be in for a interesting few months.

RH seems like a fighter who would like to stay over here instead of fighting on a regular basis in the States.

He would probably switch to Ringside. They delivered Injin Chi to Manchester a couple of times in WBC title fights with Brodie. Hatton would have been impressed by that.

Even Spadafora later on isn't enough, maybe Ricky knows that. Spadafora is a dead end fight that leads to no where, its the most least risk fight out of the top ten that could possibly be taken. I not even sure Spada is top ten lightwelter anyway. Its not a fight to look foward to at all I think. Maybe Cotto's recent progress has really sent the message home to Ricky, I thought he looked flat in his last fight and I imagine he will in the Vilches fight as well.

I think you have hit the nail on the head there mate.

Both Cotto and Francisco Bojado are closer to genuine world title shots than Hatton after a combined 36 fights.
Hatton has already fought 35 times.

I'm a Hatton fan but that's a hard statement to argue with, the facts clearly speak for themselves.

I recall about over two years ago talking to some friends in a pub who have a 'passing' interest in Boxing.

I was telling them how excited I was about Hatton and that I had the same feeling of excitment about him as I did about a young Naz and Benn. I can't believe that two years have passed with so little progress.

My friends now say "Is that Hatton lad still fighting", The sad thing is they are only half joking.

Wonder if Frank has sent a warning letter to Ricky for DARING to criticise his dubious matchmaking

Absolutely. And that's the thing with Hatton, I'm sure if he did go in for example with a Judah, even losing I'm certain he would put up a brave and thoroughly entertaining fight and the US fans would certainly have him back, again and again.

Just look how many times Gatti has lost and he's still making a mint, defeat would NOT spell disaster for Hatton.

Hatton is in need of a revamp I think he should get in with Gatti or Judah either can make him a star!

It's good to see Hatton has the balls to come out and say what he said, let's hope that is has the desired result, I've always liked Ricky, and felt he wasn't scared of anyone out there, I was beginning to doubt that opinion, but my faith in Hatton has been restored.

i`ve said that from the first time i saw him fight.
he would go down a storm with the `macho` hispanic crowd especially if he was in wars with gatti and cotto etc. it would be great to see ricky basing himself in L.A or somewhere.

i`ve been let down too many times as a hatton fan to get my hopes up but i`ll say it again, i honestly believe he would take the lot of them.

Zab is a very bad fight for Hatton. He is the last person I would match Hatton with.

This story was run in the Daily Sport as well, not sure if he spoke to Steve Lillis or whether they sniffed it from the Sun paper. Hatton was basically saying he was pissed off with the level of opposition...i saw him on Sky Sports giving the usual spiel about how Vilches has been KO'd by Mitchell and he needed to use the fight as a measurement as to how good he was compared with Mitchell etc and he generally looked pissed off.

He knows he can't be "measuring" anymore, he needs to get in and fight these guys. Even if Spadafora comes off in September then so what? Spadafora is a hometown fighter who has moved up from Super Featherweight where he avoided the best fighters (Freitas, Casamayor, Mayweather etc) up to Lightweight where he escaped with a draw against Leo Dorin and then up to Light Welterweight where he hasn't even fought yet. Spadafora is obviously after a payday as he knows with all his personal problems he will not be Boxing for too much longer at the highest level.

This is the ultimate hometown boys matchup Hatton 35-0 V Spadafora 37-0-1 with neither having fought anything of real note. Spadafora went 12 with Pedersen for goodness sake. Hatton gave him a legalised beating for six or so rounds...WE DON'T NEED THIS FIGHT!!!!

spot on steve Spad was being touted at the time of the pinto fight also, I was praying for pinto what a stupid move that turned out to be.
still think hatton can mix it with better fighters than spad.
