I dont really see the point in them. I know boys that have just turned over need time to settle into the pro game so they put them into 4 rounders but i just think it would be better for there development if they went straight to 6. The pro game is alot slower and more about sitting down on your shots and being more patient trying to work for the openings to get there shots off. I just see 4 rounders more or less a bit of a sprint and boys are just rushing there work throwing hundreds of punches. I know that they are nervous and really eager to impress on there debut trying to make a big impression but i feel wrapping boxers in cotton wool and giving them their first 5 or 6 outings in gimme fighters doesnt do a great deal for there development.

Scrapping four rounders would put many small hall promoters out of business.

Boxers would expect to be paid more to go straight into six round fights (opponents would also expect more), but would they sell more tickets? Would they hell. Some fighters ticket sales barely grow when they get to ten and 12 round level.

At a time when nine out of ten promoters are losing money, enforcing a system that would increase their loses would be economic madness.

I honestly didnt even think of it in a buisness sense and ultimately that is what boxing is, a business. I was thinking purely from the development side of a boxer.Just think they do more harm than good

I've always thought four rounders were more risky than six for prospects. It only takes a flash knockdown and they can end up chasing a draw.

I know I often bring Japanese boxing in to topics but their prospects tend to start in 6 rounders anyway. I think the likes of the Olympians over here or top amateurs probably should skip the 4 round fights and move straight to 6.

Then again I think we have a broken and unsustainable system at the moment that's set to crumble anyway.

YES!! Its professional boxing! definitely should start at 6 rounder s. Olympic gold medalists doing 4 rounders is a total joke! When did it change to 4 rounders anyway?

Four rounds is more than enough for a lot of the casuals who are at a show to watch one fight and one fighter. More than that and they may twig that the dice are loaded.
