at least he didn't get ko'd a weird fight from Williams he threw virtually nothing looks like he was paid to lose.

It's hoped his kids get a good job from going to private schools, that man has sacrificed to pay their fees.

Classic journeyman performance. Show up, be evasive, give the man some rounds and a tricky target, but don't try to win.

When he lost to Audley in 2006, he hinted at retirement.... 8 years on... if only!

Record is 46-23 now.

He could end up with a negative record if he keeps doing this for a few more years.

Wonder how much he got for his recent fight. If hes getting a high 4 early 5 figure then it's easy money, if he's getting low 4 figure then shame on him.

X2. Hopefully they land plum jobs and really look after ther dad.

I don't understand why he had to put his kids through private school - wouldn't it have been cheaper in the long run to just move areas to be near a decent comp school?

Probably just an excuse more than anything.

A lot of people who are workaholics try to pretend they are working too hard to provide for a family, and the family would prefer to have their dad/husband/whatever around more often than take the money.

Could be that putting his kids through expensive schools is just a way to delude himself that he needs to keep on boxing.

I think I mentioned this another time, but I remember reading about how Danny doesn't even like boxing and was never hugely enthusiastic about it or something.

He definitely didn't come across as particularly keen on it even during his prime. Weird how it's often the boxers who aren't in love with the sport who end up fighting on the longest.

There was some talk that his dad nagged him into it somewhat.

I think I vaguely remember Ricky Hatton commenting that Danny Williams looked nervous and worried to death backstage before a fight - and that would have been years ago I guess. I wonder if he still gets the big pre-fight nerves with the calibre of opponents he's fighting now?

There was a joke going around when he was British champion. Almost every single fight, Danny came out and said; "I wasn't at my best tonight."

Apparently he used to get close to tears before a fight and sometimes even refuse to go out. I'd love to read an autobiography or watch a documentary of his career.

Yeah, come to think of it I was talking out of my arse with that using it as an excuse thing.

But I agree with you about the autobiography, I've been saying that for years. What with his reigns as British champion, fighting with a dislocated shoulder, beating Tyson and getting spanked by Klitschko, then ending up fighting dodgy journeymen in Europe because he no longer is licensed to fight in Britain, he must have some decent stories to tell. I'd still like to hear his opinions on his second fight with Sprott.

I'd certainly buy it, and that coming from somebody who wasn't a massive fan of his when he was British champion.
