Very overrated guy for me.

What is your opinion about him?

he was overrated but don't Forget that he had huge personal Problems before the leapai fight which dropped his Motivation and made him Show up out of shape.

he was having a legal issue with a former Promotor of his who death treatened boytsov and had a friend of denis beat up. there was also rumors of DB having issues with alcohol (probably partly related to the issues with Kluch (his former Promotor who is now in prison).

things like that can derail a career.

He is much better than his non-showing against Leapai. But he's a partier and a drinker and that may ruin his potential.

Boytsov was always overrated. Vinny Maddalone said 45 y.o. Holyfield was much, much tougher opponent for him than young Boytsov. I honestly think young talents like Oleksandr Usyk, Joseph Parker and Anthony Joshua would beat him easily right now

The guy lost to Leapai. That should tell you all you need to know about his talent and potential.

I don't know if his potential was that high but he did have some talent. he was a junior world champion in the amateurs but he always had a lot of health problems that continued in the pros (broken hands...).

then came some personal problems which did not make it better.

I think it is easy to judge him from the internet but he didn't always had an easy time in his life.

A slew of professional fighter didn't have an easy time in life. Sometimes that's a reason they gravitate to boxing.
If you have the talent, as you say Boystov does, that only means he lacks the mental toughness to rise above and conquer his personal woes, as many fighters before him have done.
Mental toughness is a huge part of being successful in boxing.

He's a C-Level competitor in one of the worst classes in the history of heavyweight boxing.

Boytsov can't possibly be overrated currently. He lost to Leapai, and most people probably perceive him as being outside the division's top 40. If he was overrated given that, then that means he actually belongs clearly, clearly outside the top 50, perhaps down there around the #80 or 90 slot. That would be madness. Boytsov could easily steamroll fighters that far down the ranks. He belongs in the #40-55 ballpark, which is precisely where a lot of boxing fans rate him. Therefore, he is rated accurately.
