Fair play to Kell. I stayed away from predictions on this one as I had no clue how good he is, despite having seen him fight maybe a dozen times.

A quick question though. I heard him say, both before and after the fight, that he was the first Briton to go to the US to beat an American for the Welterweight title in 20 years - or since Honeyghan, which is actually closer to 30 years now. But Hatton went to the States & beat Collazo for the Welter title. Back in 2006.

Has Brook just forgotten that or did I miss some point? It's not a big deal but one of those things that my weird brain will thinking about now.

I think he meant go over there as an underdog, whereas Hatton was the favourite to win.

Yes, WBA. Although they were already bvggering about with 'World' and 'Super World' by that time. Collazo was definitely champ, how utterly legitimate is open to debate (as always).

The specific stat being tossed around is that brook was first since Lloyd to beat an unbeaten American in his back yard for a belt.

Yeah, I think they took it off of Baldomir who'd just beaten undispued champ Judah but didn't pay the WBA a fee.

Brook beats Honeyghan and Hatton. They'd both be weak at the weight.
