What are your thoughts on this kid?

I think he's good, and is talented.

I also think he has the tools to give anyone, including Floyd, a tough fight. He's a tall, fast, rangy southpaw with a good jab.

I think he would beat Canelo. Canelo can't deal with movers.

Excellent fighter. Would like to see him unify with the Molina/Bundrage winner and then fight Canelo.

He could fight Kirkland or Trout too. I think he would beat Cotto.

I think him vs lara would either be a great fight or a snooze fest. in some ways he sort of reminds me of erislandy

He had a pretty solid amateur background, and has shown a lot of promise in the pros so far. He beat Keith Thurman twice.
He shut out Freddie Hernandez who had recently beaten Collazo, and with beat both common opponents he had with Lara more convincingly.
He wants to fight either Lara or Canelo, and ready for it I think. At 6'1" and a southpaw, he will be a challenge. For some reason though Lara does better against southpaws. I am pretty sure he would beat Canelo though. I believe it was Virgil Hunter that said Andrade has better over-all skills than Lara.

:TU: But id imagine like both Trout and Lara,he will be given next to no credit for not getting involved in a tear up and boxing to instructions for 12 rounds

A couple of rounds boxing on the backfoot, hitting and not getting hit is boxing at its purist but do it for 12 rounds and it becomes running to a lot of people, not me but Judges

One can't beat Canelo on points unless his name is Floyd, but even in the Floyd fight, one card got messed up.

True. That one judge couldn't possibly be that incompetent. I wonder how much cash was exchanged for that to happen.

not sure where the comparisons between andrade and the top guys are coming from.
andrade got dropped and was very close with vanes, who is top level, but andrade
hasn't really fought any other top level. i'd like to see andrade against clottey.
if he could beat clottey. then maybe i'd start thinking about him v canelo
(who beat lara and trout so stop bitching about the judges).

I think he's promising but somewhat overrated.

Contrary to what many think I don't think he had an easy time with Vanes nor do I think that he generally looked good in that fight. He blew away Rose, but Rose is EBU level at best and I thought he was fortunate to get the win over Maciel to earn his title shot. Andrade's opposition has generally been mediocre, and while I think there's a good chance that he can consistently win at higher levels I need him to give me more evidence of that before I'm high on him.

I was cheering for Vanes, but Andrade clearly beat him, and it wasn't close.

"I don't think he had an easy time with Vanes nor do I think that he generally looked good in that fight."

I wasn't commenting on whether he deserved to win or whether it was a clear win.

If you think Andrade had an easy time or looked good I disagree, and it certainly wasn't the type of performance that screams 'this guy is excellent' to me.

The fact is that Andrade beat Vanes more clearly than Lara did. He landed over 100 more punches, and the result was not controversial. He also beat Freddie Hernandez more comfortably than Lara. I'm not saying he would beat Lara, but think it would be a close fight.

Andrade would be a tough fight for anyone at 154. At 6'1", a long reach, a southpaw with power, and over-all good boxing skills. He is not at the top of the world just yet, but wanting to fight the best to show what he can do. I would like to see him vs any top 10 jr middle and keep building his resume.

I've only seen a couple of his fights, but I think his balance was an issue. I think he can be countered fairly easily.
