Korobov is a very ordinary fighter.

I think Korobov would go into a shell and fail to give GGG many problems. I don't think that he'll even beat Quillin, although I wouldn't be too surprised if he did.

And while Ouma is a southpaw, I don't think his success against GGG was because of that.

Agree that Korobov isn't anything special and would just be another one of GGG's reversing performing monkeys.

Korobov has the same amateur pedigree as GGG. He seems to have lost some motivation in profi and was not promoted fast enough. If he gets his motivation back and gets into a good shape so that he can actually throw for 36 minutes, he will be the toughest challenge GGG has had. With Korobov having very good power and him being a very good counter puncher, GGG will need to be very careful.

The problem for Korobov may be (though I don't know if it is the case) is that he is having a hard time making weight which would explain his inability to fight all 3 minutes in every round.

P.S. I have little doubts in Korobov beating Quillin provided that Matvey gets in shape.

Making a fight of it early isn't exactly the same as giving GGG a lot of problems. Ouma's high punch output kept him in it early. Midway GGG took over, and gave him a beating where they had to stop it. The beating was bad enough they hospitalized Ouma and suspected he had bleeding on the brain from all of the hard shots to the head.

Golovkin had problems with Ouma because of non-boxing circumstances before that fight (not having a visa till the last moment and spending a whole day at airports without eating or drinking) which affected Gennady's condition.

Korobov can be much better than Ouma if he is in shape.

Wtf is korobov quillin won't fight ggg more will anybody else ! He's been marketed wrong and won't get the big fights he deserves

I was looking back at GGG's amateur record, and between 2003 and 2004 he beat Andre Dirrell, Andy Lee, Korobov, and Bute. Not bad. Of course fighters evolve and its just amateurs, but GGG has proven he is also he is excellent in the pros. I look forward to GGG vs Rubio, and also the winner of Korobov and Quillen.

To be fair, when he was beaten by Golovkin in 2003, Korobov was just starting his international career, and later he won world championships in 2005 and 2007. I wish there was a video of their 2003 fight.

I just want Korobov to win so Golovkin can have a reasonable shot at that title.

That was like one point win in a team match in the U.S.A. when the U.S. team was losing after light categories fought, so the local judges decided to level things up.

best fight available aside from ggg quillon or cotto
