Who was the first fighter to win a title in one weight class, then move up in weight and win a title in another division? Does anyone know?

I've been wondering this for a while now, and would like to know.

And... world title, or a national title?

Specifics... because in the bare knuckle days, it was quite common to see lightweights, welterweights, middleweights go up in weight and capture national titles or even early versions of the world title...

That's who came to my mind initially as well.

Thinking Fitz too. Terry McGovern would be a close second maybe?

I think we are all thinking along the same lines here, I thought of Terry secondly.

George Dixon won the bantam and featherweight titles before Fitz was a two-time champion. I think he would be first. Tommy Ryan became a multiple weight champ just after Fitz.
