Now, I respect Lennox Lewis and I know that he is a great boxer, among the top 5 heavyweights ever. But look back on his controversial fight against Vitail Klitschko, the last fight of his career... He did retire afterward, but his boxing license should have been taken! He did land a perfect punch to damage Vitali like that, respect, however, look how seriously wounded Vitali was. Now, we all like a good boxing match, a fair fight, but no one should get hurt. That's not the point of boxing. Lewis kept hitting Vitali's injury. Lewis should have been disqualified or been man enough to quit in the corner, instead of risking to hurt Vitali permanently.

Name one world champion in history who avoided throwing blows to an opponent's face when he received a cut.

Cowardly given up, as the other man who wanted to fight remember, was badly hurt and you can't stand the sight of blood?
The onus is on the referee or the opposition corner to stop the fight.
Lewis did what a fighter should of done, that is fight.

Aiming for a cut fighter's cuts has always been part of professional boxing. Your post is getting as much respect as it deserves.

wrong. boxing is about hurting your opponent. if an opponent is injured you go for that injury, that is the way it works. if not for the cut lennox might have lost that fight, do you expect him risking a loss just because he does not want to hurt his opponent. once you are afraid to hurt an opponent you need to retire, boxing is hurting the other or getting hurt yourself.
