10 welterweight
Mike Jones 26(19)-1(1)-0
vs
Jaime Herrera 11(6)-2(1)-0
Jones dropped Herrera twice
Once at the end of the 2nd round
Once at the beginning of the 3rd round
Then things got a little sloppier and Jones got rocked
Jones always conscient about keeping his chin covered, head down
Jones badly out of stamina in the second half and almost got grinded to a TKO in the 6th (saved by the bell)
Jones takes another round of punishment in the 7th, gets badly grinded barely throwing back, and quits after 7

Big surprise. I was looking forward to a comeback. I guess he doesn't have the heart for it.

Too bad. Jones clearly has talent, just not the heart to match it. I was hoping the welterweight division was going to get a bit more interesting.

Apparently Jones had him outta there and they suprisingly let it continue. He got butted in the next round and couldn't see a thing and ended up getting beat up from there.
Still no excuse losing to a no hoper.

LOL, wow. Mike needs to look into another career. To stay away for 2yrs after a L had me thinking he had some desire issues, but this pretty much assures he has desire issues to lose to a guy like this. Or it just shows how much of a fraud he was. Either way going into another line of work might not be a bad idea.

Great win for Herrera imo. Jones was considered a great talent, even though he was off for 2 yrs. He was being strongly considered as an opponent for Manny 2 or 3 yrs ago.

most ref would've probably stopped it after the first KD because it was BRUTAL (left hook flush back to the ropes)... herrera was up in time but all over the place... the ropes kept him up at the end of the count... and then the bell saved him. Jones tried to take him out at the beginning of the next round and dropped him... but Herrera was back up and even shook Jones... Jones had his head down and moving forward... Herrera was crafty enough to catch him with brutal uppercuts a la bailey.

Jones showed plenty of heart in the soto karass fight (admittedly he robbed the win on that occasion), maybe he just feels like its not there anymore.

I'm not surprised, Herrera upset Garcia but didn't get the credit he deserved for doing so.

Different Herrera, but yes he did beat Garcia in my opinion.

Stamina will be always be an issue for him surprised he came back at welter. He reminds me of Khan a lotof offensive talent but the chin isn't great.

Just saw replay. I am borderline shocked they didn't stop this fight end of round 2. Herrera was done. Shockingly Herrera got the benefit of doubt as if he were the house fighter. 99% the opponent fighter such as him is pulled outta there before by ref.
