In light of Shannon Briggs, a black American w/o hispanic origins (unless you count the time his mom was banging a Mexican guy for a month when he was a kid), winning a abc Latino belt yesterday what are the silliest abc belts that have been created or won by less than eligible boxers.

I'll go with Eric "Butterbean" Esch winning & defending a even more bs than usual abc groups Super Heavyweight belt that allowed him to have 4 round title fights.

There was a title called 'The Bad and Mean'. Can't remember who won it, someone that was formerly high profile - Omar Sheikah perhaps?

Mike Perez-Magomed Abdusalamov, a Cuban and a Russian, was for the WBC United States title.

WBA Regular is the daftest, due to some considering it a real 'World' title!

Johann Duhaupas, a Frenchman, won the WBA Fedebol AND South American Heavyweight titles...

The reguar title is the worst because titles are titles but us hardcore fans like to know the score with belts but the WBA are takng the piss out with 2 titles in 1 division and that we get grey

tony jeter has the fecarbox title, which i could swear is a central american/caribbean thing,
but he has fought for it in the DC area against other americans all 3 times.
it doesn't seem like any title with a region or group of countries in its name
has to be contested in those countries or by people from those countries.
there ARE latin american countries, that latinos in the united states check
off a box saying they have a connection to, but i don't think that latino
title is supposed to be contested between americans of that ethnicity.
it's supposed to be like the other titles refering to mediterranean or baltic
or pan pacific, etc, meaning you are champ of that area. i've seen north american
titles contested in south america with at least one contestant never having fought
outside of south america. roy jones beat a guy who was 17-0 maybe 2 years ago
who had both the baltic silver and polish international titles.

The question is if they can move further than talking. They could at least agree to have one common unified/super champion and keep their "regular" belts.

Although Povetkin is pretty good fighter, him holding the WBA "Regular" belt after ducking Wlad like a plague for years was one of the the silliest things in the history of boxing

just saw the guy he fought for it started out as a super middleweight!

And i think Wlad/Povetkin is the only time the Super champ has faced the Regular holder

Anything to do with Chauncy Welliver is the silliest.

Doing some research & apparently Shannon's opponent, Cory Phelps, for the Latino title was a seemingly a run of the mill non-Latino white guy based on fight posters. Also its noteworthy this is Shannon's 2nd reign as Latino champion, he also won the title in 2010 vs Rafael Pedro, which sounds like a guy a lil more worthy of that opportunity than Shannon or Cory.

Carl Daniels, 34, fought a 22yr old Chad Dawson for a abc Youth Championship in 2004.

Monte Barrett won a abc Oriental title over David Tua a few years back.

purposes, like so and so is the white champ and so and so is the black champ and so and so is
the jewish champ. pretty sure latino in this case would refer to latin american countries, like fecarbox
is supposed to be centr am countries and mediterranean would be countries in that area.
i think pretty much all of them have been contested in other places by boxers who have
nothing to do with those areas. the ebu is probably the strictest about how many fights you need
to have out of your last 10 in europe and citizenship, etc.

I'd suggest the OPBF is stricter. Though the EBU do usually give them a good run for their money.

Idk about the Intercontiential version, but Carl Froch won the vacant interim Youth Latino Extra Crispy Silver with stripper glitter on it title vs Groves.

My favourites along these lines are Irish-Kiwi Shane Cameron beating Croatian-Aussie Bob Mirovic for the IBF African title, or Italian-American Brian Minto beating Cameron for the WBO Oriental title.
