Matchroom - upcoming Hull show

2 fights have been announced for the upcoming Hull show:
Tommy Coyle vs Michael Katsidis
Luke Campbell vs Daniel Brizuela
I actually think both are good fights.
Whilst Katsidis is well past his best I think it will still be a fun fight.
I also like the Campbell fight. Whilst Coyle's performance made him look a lot better than he is, Brizuela is still a good step up.

Katsidis shouldn't really be fighting anymore, but I think he's in with a real chance of beating Coyle, although that says more about Coyle than Katsidis.

Is that the long way of saying it's a good matchup?
Looking forward to the Campbell fight.

More that while Katsidis is completely shot and I'm not sure if it's really safe for him to box, Coyle's defence and chin are dodgy enough for me to see him landing something and taking him out. It's not a good fight, the fight against Earl last month showed that, just that I think Katsidis might have one last big punch in him, I'm not expecting him to win many, if any, rounds, but he still has a punchers chance, and against Coyle that's a bloody good one.

Katsidis isn't anything like his best. But I also don't think he is shot to pieces. Just not as good as he was, certainly safe to box.

A bit surprised that Eddie has decided to use Katsidis.

Tommy needs a 'name' in front of him to get his motivation levels up.
I fancy Boom Boom to do an impressive job.
Looking forward to that and Campbell and Brizuela.

Coyle is a good boxer and very game, he'll always sell tickets because he's good to watch; his supporters must go through all sorts watching him though. I can't see him having a long career but hope he makes a few quid, he seems a good lad. I hope they don't put him in with Luke, he'll get wasted.

Brizuela is a very good match-up for Campbell at this stage, will be a decent test for him.
As for Coyle v Katsidis...meh. Very poor fight imo, Katsidis is done & has been for several years.

You would say that though to be fair.

Not really said it because it's matchroom. I've hardly raved that it's a big fight.
It's Tommy Coyle, who nearly lost against the guy they are throwing Campbell in with next. He is hardly world class. This should be a decent fight to watch.
But no, I don't think Katsidis is as shot as say, James Toney, he is just on the downgrade.

It is a bit of a cynical matchup though you have to admit. I understand that nothing new putting prospects in with worn former good fighters but by all accounts katsidis didn't deal with earl in the manner he really should of relative to where earl is at currently.

Is the Katsidis fight going to be at lightweight or LWW?

Why is Katsidis being given a licence by the BBBOC?
Didn't he have dodgy brain scan a few years back? I personally don't want him in a British ring - he's shot to ribbons as well.

Coyle goes life and death with Brizuela and he's the next opponent for a 'prospect'
Coyle's next match is with a guy who's shot to shit but will slug it out for a good show.
We know who has Hearn's confidence.

Tommy is limited. Luke is highly skilled and will outbox this fella.

Yeah and hopefully Brizuela will put it on Luke so Luke can exploit the openings and look good as apposed to chasing a lad round the ring who's just trying to survive.

I like this.
Shame Dickens v McDonnell isn't happening on this like expected would have been a nice triple header.
We see Luke Campbell in a proper fight too. Any views on him as a pro are nothing until after this fight.

Just looking at in in terms of opponent v opponent, its a fine match-up and has the makings of a good fight.
I know we have a bucketload of amateur doctors and brain surgeons on here, but if the BBBoC clear him, then he is fit to fight. In regards to the brain scan Hitman was on about, i think that turned out to be wrong, I'm sure I read it was in relation to an old eye injury rather than brain, and all was fine.

personally I can see an upset in the coyle match, although katsidis is shop worn he may well have too much sling in his gun for coyle, coyle, although a decent banger, is fragile to say the least. If katsidis gets past the first 4 rounds then he will catch coyle, Mitchell was levels above coyle and katsidis did for him.
Campbell wins the other fight convincingly, in about 6 rounds.

Despite failing a brain scan 18 months ago and his trainer saying: "I'm glad the tests have stopped him fighting before something really bad happened"?

It's not just the scan which is the concern, it's the fact that Katsidis has such a terrible style for someone who's gone on too long. At least someone like Toney can still ride most of the punches, whereas Katsidis never managed to ride punches well during his prime, let alone nowadays.

I thought it had since been found to not be a brain problem? More a miscommunication relating to an old eye injury.
His trainer is bound to say he is glad that a brain problem was identified. You wouldn't want it going unnoticed, serious damage would happen.

The BBBoC will surely not sanction Katzidis fighting here ?

They gave Earl a license to fight him and Toney was allowed last year, as long as he passes the medical I don't see it being stopped.
