Thank the lord,Frampton/Martinez 2 is this weekend,its been a dry couple of weeks on the boxing front so i'm really looking forward to a decent scrap and this one is just what the doctor ordered

If its anything like the 1st fight then we're in for a treat,i think it will be better,both fighters have improved,Martinez especially has raised his game,he deserves all he's got,he's done it the hard way and travelled to face some quality opposition,Dunne,Munroe twice,Frampton,Romero,Hasegawa plus he's got a great style to watch and if he catches Carl then has the finishing instincts to stop him

I still fancy Carl to win though,he's technically far better boxer than Kiko and i reckon he'll be able to break Martinez down before stopping him in about 11,if not then a comfortable but hard fought UD win

I know what you mean, feels like I haven't watched a fight for a year, I forgot about the Huck fight so it's been a good while for me.

Definitely looking forward to this one, have a feeling Frampton will do a real job on Martinez & stop him in the 7th or 8th.

In fact, I may have a small flutter to that effect!

Everything has been set up for a Frampton win, he's got home advantage and has beaten the champion before. I've not seen many weaknesses in Frampton either.
So why am i worried that this fight might not go according to plan? I really hope Carl wins, and it would set up a great night against Quigg.

My worry is Kiko has improved, the belt has brought out another level in him. He seems more focused these days. And he brings a real hatred to the ring , something about Frampton saying he was bald!!

I still think Frampton will win, but i also think he will have to come through a rockier fight than most think.

Can't wait for this fight and great to see that it is getting some top coverage for boxing in the mainstream press.....really big write-up by Alan Hubbard in the Independent on Sunday today and perhaps we're reaping the benefit of the Froch-Groves II fight? Boxing seems to be worth covering and talking about again......

Martinez does worry me a bit to be honest, that win against Romero in the US seems to have put him on another level and going back on the road again to bash-up a Japanese fighter in his own backyard is impressive as well.

Barry and Shane are both of the opinion that Martinez can only fight the one way and that Frampton is leaving nothing to chance, but it still leaves the question hanging as to hiow dangerous Martinez can be having made significant improvements to a style that was still competitive the first time round? This could be a classic with a massive atmosphere to match......

I may have a punt on this too. Apparently you can get short odds that Barry will say, "discombobulate" at some point.

Personally I don't think Martinez has really improved. He's just beaten a few decent fighters that either had durability issues in Romero or were past their best in hasegawa. I'm expecting the same result but maybe Martinez might go the distance this time

Kiko to win via technical milkshake. Unless Frampton can stay out of the way until the first half has passed.

Compare this to say Kell Brooks recent win - he had to box in America for a title against an opponent who was favourite to win with many.

Hopefully it will be a good fight, but the romantic in me likes to see a boxer win a title against the odds (although you can't "blame" Framptons management for getting him as many advantages as possible).

Fighting in front 16,000+ against a guy he was competing on even terms with in their previous fight until he got hit was a great shot will hold no fear for Kiko. Kiko has many fans in Ireland having had 6 fights there and it would have been 7 except for the McCullough debacle. He comes to fight and this will be a barnburner hence the expected big crowd. Kiko will fancy his chances. He must feel he has improved as his recent opponents have been of a higher quality than that of Carls. I am surprised that the impression is that Kiko is here to make up the numbers. Bernard Dunne's fans thought the same.

I've only just clicked that this is on allegedly. Not sure how i'm going to be able to watch this at the weekend

Dunne was chinny. Also frampton has beaten Martinez already.

Gutted I'll be at work. Hopefully Carl does the business but I think we'll see Kiko push him all the way. The first few rounds will be mental. And I mean mental as in mad not as in a thinking mans fight. Maybe I should have typed something other than mental. The first few rounds will be crazy. Crazy like a wolf. A crazy wolf at full moon.

Went to the press conference earlier and the big-fight atmosphere is building nicely. Today was quite subdued and Kiko was more restrained and in control of his emotions than last time.

Great to see the legendary Sergio Martinez in Belfast again.

Kiko's manager/promoter Sampson Lewkowicz is a real character too.

Agree I was at the first one and it was absolutely class. Loved it. But can't make it this time due to financial reasons having only seen the area where this fight is from a distance would have liked to have seen how it is set up/what the atmosphere is like with a bigger crowd but out doors etc.

Hopefully can catch it on TV.

Funnily enough I just received an email with a free registration code on it, I was a former customer online, do it through virgin now. So they must be sending them out.

anybody attending this fight? Kiko is on a run of 4 KOs I believe, but I really don't know very much about Frampton I confess. On paper I'll go with youth, but he really needs to keep it tight.

Have they got Sarmiento over with them? & does everyone on Martinez's team wear shades indoors?

I've been thinking Frampton since the fight was announced but for some reason I'm thinking Kiko might win via KO. Perhaps its the Titanic link that has some how got into my subconscious...

I sense an upset. Reckon that Martinez stops him late on.

Does anyone know the start time for the main event?
