I've never been a big fan of Hopkins and don't really enjoy his fights. Regardless of that I give him loads of credit.

However, I see him standing no chance whatsoever beating Kovalev, does anyone think he can pull this one off or is it one step too far?

He should lose to Kovalev but I've stopped picking against Hopkins, the man is a freak of nature, and I say that as someone who has never been a fan.

I'd like to see him be KO'd in fact for his racist comment he said about Calzaghe. A white man would never get away with saying that!

I'm no fan of Hopkins, but I've learned not to underestimate him - he's a master of picking opposition to suit him & making them fight his kind of fight.

Saying that, I think he's bitten off more than he can chew this time. Kovalev won't give him much respect & is a murderous puncher, would like to see him get the KO win

The classic, 'I have loads of white mates'. Still a racist comment and would have been blown up if the shoe was on the other foot and Calazghe said it.

i wouldnt be too surprised that Hopkins wins on points , he boxes on the back foot goes on little walks and pot shots with rights

if kovalev doesnt catch him clean then does he have the stamina output to outwork hopkins ???

Really Kovalev should nail him but Hopkins isnt a normal Boxer.

He's an arsehole and a racist. His jail talk never worked on Joe as Fwank tried telling him.

It's long overdue, but the time has finally come to write off Hopkins. This might be one of those dangerous lump on bets. I'm expecting the Kovalev stoppage market to open around 13/8.

On the fence. He should lose in theory but Hopkins can negate any man's power and work rate at any age

Racism isn't an acceptable way to sell a fight, it wasn't 30 years ago when Alan Minter did it and it certainly isn't now. And the 'I have lots of white friends' line is the classic way of admitting you were being racist. If it was the other way round and Joe said something like that, then used that defence he wouldn't have had a leg to stand on. It was completely out of order from Bernard whichever way you look at it.

Styles - and it's hard to pick against Hopkins.

Kovalev just has bricks for fists though, and that's the equaliser here. But if he can't land those bombs, he could slip to a UD loss.

Hopkins can't avoid those bombs all night. Kovalev will be surging forward, and this 50 year old ain't playing the matador this time.

I've got to agree with you.
It'll be rough and ragged but Hopkins has the knowledge and no-how to negate Kovalev's power for 12 rounds.

Doubt the fight will happen. If it does and Hopkins pulls it off, i'll be amazed.

Kovalev wins this on points for me,i cant see Hopkins being prized out his shell enough to win the majority of rounds,massive step up in class for Sergey and if he can stop Bernard then that's a big statement and would cement him as the No1 in the division

I'd never write Hopkins off against anyone and to say he has no chance is just foolish. Kovalev is a beast without question but he's been in with no-one anywhere near the calibre of Hopkins. I make this a 50-50 fight and so will be backing Hopkins at 5/2. I know it was only a flash knockdown but Kovalev being caught in his last fight doesn't exactly fill me with confidence as to his chances. No way he stops Hopkins either. He only wins by out working him.

I've found that most (not all) of the people who bleat about Hopkins' comments about losing to a white guy are themselves racist and are narked because they'd get slayed if they said what they really thought.
