Is Maidana vs Matthysse PPV worthy?

They've said that they won't fight each other, but money talks. If the fight happens can it sell 800k+ PPV's?

As of right now, no. But say Maidana defeats Floyd and Matthysse defeats Broner... It is PPV worthy. However, not sure it would generate 800K buys. Neither are big talkers and neither have been in the limelight long enough.

It would easily sell at least 50,000 tickets in a Buenos Aires stadium, similar to Maravilla Murray, maybe more to be honest

800k is a lot of buys even if Marcos were to beat Floyd & Lucas were to beat Adrien. I think turning a guy into a ppv star takes more time & 800k buys are star numbers for a guy with a few A side ppv's on his resume already. So no they aren't doing that many buys, but I could see it being a ppv although right now it'd seem more like a premium cable fight than a ppv fight to me. The fight itself would be entertaining as f#ck though & in that regard is certainly a type of fight that would be a greatly talked about fight if it was ppv, premium cable or whatever.

Have they.
I thought there was respect between them both and that was it.

PPV in Argentina, but nowhere else.

It would be worthy in terms of being a great matchup. Boxing fans familiar with both fighters would be salivating with anticipation, however, I doubt it would make great sales. If Maidana beat FMJ, that's another story, but anyone who beats FMJ will continue to be on PPV.
It could still be a big event w/ out being on PPV. It would get good ratings on Showtime and could attract a huge live attendance if held in Argentina, maybe even of similar magnitude to Froch-Groves II.

If I were an Argentine, I'd be very upset that this hasn't happened on the pro ranks.
I dunno, though. What do you mean by PPV 'worthy'?
It wouldn't sell, if that's what you mean. If you mean 'would it be a better fight than the majority of actual PPV fights and would, by comparison, it be worth paying for?' Then I'd say yes.

There's pretty much no way that a single-header ppv can sell 800+ ppv buys without a top 4 attraction like Mayweather, Pacquiao, Cotto, or Wlad. Not even sure if the #5 biggest attraction could do it, even if he was fighting the #6 biggest attraction. Neither Maidana nor Matthysse on their own merits are anywhere in the top 10, IMO. I think Maidana - Matthysse would do 200k ppv buys. The fact is, when you have an Argentinian fighting an Argentinian, not a lot of Americans will buy it on ppv, and not a lot of Argentinians will buy it on ppv. It would be a good fight, though. But quality of the fight takes a backseat to naked popularity.

Not even because both these guys fights are on terrestrial TV here, it would be one I would not miss though, making of a fornicating fight of the decade

People seem to think that lots of countries do PPV shows, only a handful do.
Re this fight being PPV only if it was a co-feature on a pretty big show with a strong under card.

I don't consider any fight to be PPV worthy, but I can't imagine it would crack 100,000 buys.

If you coupled it up with a Broner Vs Garcia or another fight of the same level, it would be.
It would be worthy, in my opinion, but that doesn't mean it would be successful financially.

Fights that were PPV that Maidana Matthysee would be bigger than: Remember, after the Floyd fights win or lose, Maidana will be more known.
Morales Maidana
Chavez Martinez
Pacquiao Larios
Pacquiao Solis
Vargas Mayorga
Klitschko Williams
Bradley Marquez

Same.
This would be an awesome fight, but it wouldn't sell.
