Has anyone here ever heard a recording of the live ABC Radio broadcast
of the first Floyd Patterson vs Ingemar Johansson title fight?
I think I have heard the second and third bouts,but I dont think I have ever heard
the ABC radio broadcast of their first fight at Yankee Stadium June.26.1959.
It was done by Les Keiter with Howard Cossel doing the color and analysist(his ABC national debut).

I think that night June 1959 was the debut of ABC Radio coast to coast boxing .
The first fight in June 1959 was heard on about 400 stations and listened to by 21 million people.
By the second fight in June 1960 was heard coast to coast on 474 stations and listed to by 61 million people.

Seems to me I once saw a website somewhere that featured radio broadcasts of big time sports events. Maybe it would be there if I can only think of the site.

I would love to hear the radio broadcast of Ali-Liston 1, as that is the first radio broadcast I can recall listening to as a small kid.

Too funny...I listened to that on the radio when my dad and my older brother went to see it on closed circuit that night.

All of the web sites I have visited only have the second and third fight available ,except for this site here.
(or maybe do they just think they have the first fight available among the three?)

Oddly enough I just bought this broadcast on reel to reel tape. I havent had it transferred to CD yet.

After you transfer it to CD,would you then please download it on youtube,so that we can all hear and enjoy this historic broadcast?(please)

here is some detail info about the recording of the live ABC Radio broadcast of June 1959 from Yankee Stadium.
(parts of the entire live broadcast of the first fight are missing,probably the commercials and between rounds color analysist by Howard Cossel)l.
