If Scotland votes yes, Scottish British champions?

If Scotland vote Yes where would that leave Willie Limond and his British title?

Would he be stripped straight away? Or would the board have some kind of time frame before excluding Scottish boxers from competing for the British title.

In fact would the BBBOC still continue to hold juristiction over Scottish boxers/shows at all?

Please don't turn this into a yes/no debate theres other places for that. I'm just talking about the effect a Yes vote would have on boxing nothing more.

I asked a similar question on another thread and it sparked a bit of a political debate but no concrete answer.
I think that in the event of a yes vote, Scotland still won't become independent until 2016. So the board won't need to rush any decision

Oh I hope this one doesn't!

Didn't know it wouldn't happen till 2016 suppose that would give plenty of time for changes to be implemented definitely plenty of questions though

With Scottish amateurs no longer being part of team GB would they still get lottery funding?

The board is a limited company by guarantee and is completely self appointed so it could continue to sanction shows in Scotland regardless of what the outcome of the independence vote is.

If Scotland remains part of the EU, the board will still be able to trade north of the border in the same way it can anywhere else. The reason it does not sanction shows overseas is because it has agreements with other boards not to cross boarders into their territory as long as they also stay out of the UK (Remember Luxembourg breaking this for Haye v Chisora). The Scottish government is unlikely to prevent UK-based companies trading in its country so it will be a case of carry on as normal for the BBBofC.

The only way it may it face opposition is if someone makes the decision to launch their own Scottish board or the Scottish government creates a statutory body to oversee boxing inside its borders. The latter of these is very unlikely to happen. The first could happen, but it would face a tough battle to be seen as credible and would probably be regarded by the board in the same somewhat misleading way all other UK sanctioning body are regarded.

The only feasible way I can see a new credible Scottish board coming into force would be if the board took the decision to leave an independent Scotland alone or it granted its Scottish Area Council the ability to break away and effectively run itself.

This went over the issue; http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b04gktk8
It seems that Scottish athletes would be able to choose between representing GB or Scotland.
Also it wasn't certain that the IOC would be able to accept Scotland in time for the Rio Olympics

I think that Scots (alive today) would still have the option to hold a British passport so i don't think it would have any effect on their eligibility for the British title.

In 18-21 years time when fighters who were born in independent Scotland are fighting for titles, i think it might be an issue.

I am not saying that you are wrong, however that doesn't sound right ? - Surely a referendum is to decide of a population want option A or B.

The population cannot for example vote for one option and then as an individual choose the other option after the vote ?

This is like saying I want to divorce my wife however I will pop over every night for my tea and once a week will nip round to get my washing done and to get my leg over, it is just the nagging I want to avoid (surely it is all or nothing ?).

They can as far as i'm aware, based on current rules. A baby born to English/Welsh/Scottish/N.Irish (currently) parents in America could apply for a British passport so thinking about it even more, the chances of it affecting British title even in 20 years chances are remote.

Yep, I think this panicky - lets all go up to Scotland quickly has really backfired. They didn't seem to give a shit when the polls seem to have it in the bag for a no. This should have been organised months in advance irrespective of the polls... if they do genuinely care about Scotland.

And then - when Ed Milliband actually does one of his only decent passionate speeches since being leader, the type of speeches he will need to do over the next year to win the parliament...... Cameron says nearly exact same thing - head and heart thing.... not sure who spoke first, but I hope when they get back to old squabbles at PMQ they will discuss plagiarism of speeches!.

lets turn this on the head, why would the board want to lose the income from the scottish shows ?

I would say that a lot of All-British sporting institutions will remain the same like they have in post-partition Ireland.

The British Board could recognise Scotland still as being within the fold. But I'd say it's HIGHLY likely that some will create a new independent Scottish Boxing Union and apply to the EBU for recognition.
