Cardle wins in the first which was a surprise. Was strapped in for the full 10 rounds.

That was short-lived. Both fighters with only 3 knockouts you would have put your house on that one going the distance!

A nice bullshit premature stoppage to start the night. Yes Cardle hurt him, then Goodings was surviving, ducking and diving yes, not a lot connecting if you watch the replay then the ref couldn't wait to jump in. I hate boxing these days. Pathetic that, give the lad a chance to at least try and recover.

But when is the break between it ending and starting again?

Premature stoppages are definitely a signature of Matchroom cards.

There was cause to stop it earlier when Goodings wasn't throwing back or defending himself properly, then when he starts to slip the punches and look aware of the situation he was in, he gets stopped

And Gallagher gets in on the interview again, wonder how many times we'll be hearing from him tonight...

Think August and the last weeks of July are considered the 'off season.' Think it is down to a lot of people going on their holidays during this period meaning promoters in the UK are less inclined to put bills on.

People wonder why MMA is taking fans away from boxing, it seems boxing is becoming a one knockdown and you're out sport in the UK, on the big cards that is for the favoured fighters.

Goodings was given absolutely no chance to recover there, Cardle was smothering his own work and connected with next to nothing.

Is that deliberate irony after Froch v Groves 1? :)

Have to agree, no way that should have been stopped. Wonder if some refs will get jumpy in the next few weeks, like when the ref in Dokes v Weaver panicked in the aftermath of Mancini v Kim Duk Koo?

I hope to hear from him when Anthony Crolla wins. Crolla is about my favourite boxer around at the moment.

The promoters were probably expecting the Scotty Cardle fight to go the distance too so a couple of other fighters should get their chance to perform on Sky who weren't expecting it. Either that or there will be a lot of down time.

Still think it's a travesty that Jeff Hinds hasn't been made a star referee.
