How come there are no " Mayweather - Maidana II threads ?

Is he THAT predictable lol ? That is why i assume there are no threads on this British section about Mayweather ? I am British by the way. I saw the fight last night and it was an almost re-run of the first fight which was not suprising. Mayweather is the boxer, Maidana the fighter and most of Floyd's fights seem to look exactly the same regardless of who he is fighting. They all seem to go 12 rounds and end on points decisions. There are no knock downs to speak of and if they do happen it's a rarity and Floyd is just too evasive and quick to get caught. He occasionally get's roughed up as he tries to tie his opponent up and is caught on the ropes, but most of the time he counters, moves out of danger and avoids getting into a style of fighting that would suit his opponent. Sometimes, with Floyd's fights, the build up, ie, the 24-7 episodes are more exciting that the fight itself lol.

I used to be an avid fan of boxing and was on these pages a few years ago under the name "Quixall", but these days i rarely bother with boxing. I can't believe how i used to invest so much time and effort arguing the toss with people on this site over petty things lol and i haven't posted on here in ages. When i came on today and didn't see any threads that seemed to be dedicated to the Floyd fight, it struck me that maybe some apathy had set in among boxing fans. It seems to me that boxing has changed so much in recent years, that fans are fed up with seeing fights that don't ignite their imaginations and most fights can be called before the fighters get into the ring these days. Oh for the day's of the Duran-Leonard-Hearns fights. I still keep an eye out for fighter's such as Froch, Khan, Brook, Galahad, Fury, Mayweather, plus one or two other's, but my interest has gone by about 90% to what it used to be.

What did you think of the Mayweather fight ? Has your interest kept the same as years ago ?

Ps I was on this site from around the time of the Mayweather - Hatton fight onwards, to give you an era.

There's been about 50 threads created on the Current Scene forum about Mayweather v Maidana 2. We also had a RBR on here last night & there was another going at the same time on the RBR forum.

I'd say it's had a reasonable amount of coverage

Mayweather and Pac threads are a thing of the past.


its all Matchroom/allegedly stuff now, which definitely whets the appetite of the pugilistic fans....

why discuss the best fighters in the world or country, when you can discuss the promoters, purses, percentages, risk:reward ratio's & official hospital records fighters may or may not need?

I would have expected a thread or two prior to the fight. Post fight i'm not in the least surprised nobody is talking about it. I watched a replay this morning, it was a real struggle to watch the full 12 rounds. The flagship fighter of boxing, the highest payed athlete of any sport, running around the ring doing everything to avoid engaging in a fight...... terrible advertisemrnt for our sport.

I'm a big fan of Mayweathers skills and ring generalship, but he's well past his prime, he cannot stay in the pocket anymore, he needs to circle and hold and pot shot his way to victory. Last nights snooze fest was clear evidence it is time the sport moved on from him.

Khan would do well to get in with him now, there has never been a better chance to dethrone him. Khans speed and workrate could well see him out point Mayweather IMO.

Little too simplistic an analysis for me, but i would agree that his best years have gone............

When you say move on.............to whom ? Who is the next big thing that delights the the average sports fan, as opposed to boxing anoraks ?

It really is a sign of boxing , that Mayweather still dominates , not so much because he's great more that all the rest are nothing like the best of by gone eras , The last one to really give him a real hard time was a weight drained over the hill Oscar , and even then a lot including myself thought Oscar was ripped off ,

The only man really capable of giving him a real go has been Pacman , who was avoided like the plague , theres no doubt that fight will probably take place , but not yet ,, Mayweather is aging better than Manny and its obvious that Floyd will give him time to deteriate a bit more , and only take the fight when he's convinced Manny is shot ,

Other than that theres not many others to test him ,, like i said more from most being average has opposed to Floyd being Great .

I would agree with you. I think boxing has seen it's best days and is in decline generally. I too think he will fight Pacquaio, but as you say, not until Floyd is convinced that he is completely shot. I personally think that Pacquaio has been that way for a while now. Nowadays there is a lot of hype, PR and media exposure, but not a great deal of real talent.

America paid $80 a ppv for it.

I don't understand how the Yanks justify an eighty dollar spend to watch him. He's been brilliantly dull on fight night for a few years now.

I think it's got to the stage where they either pay to watch him because its "Mayweather" or to see him lose. The fights almost seemed staged these days and are predictable.
