Happy Trails, Leonard Ellerbe (and Rafael Garcia too)

FM: (Cutting in) Leonard, I think we're just getting to a point where we're outgrowing each other. I think I just see things my way and I think he sees things in another way. For example, this time around when I went out and fought, my WBC and WBA titles in both weight classes were on the line and I didn't approve of that at all. That's something I didn't approve of. Also, my daughter was sitting in the front row and her mother wasn't sitting next to her, so the ticket arrangements were totally wrong. It just got to a point to where everyone wants to do what they want to do instead of communicating and compromising like we used to. We got to this point by us communicating and compromising. If I'm not mistaken, my dad wasn't able to work [Andrew] Tabiti's corner, his fighter. My dad, he got all his stuff, the things that he needed for the fight, extremely late. That's just very unprofessional. There's just a lot of other things within our team that's just not right. Leonard wasn't in my corner, so, you know, it's not any hard feelings. It's just people outgrow one another. I'm not mad at him. There's no hard feeling like I hate the guy; not at all. No hard feelings whatsoever. People just outgrow one another, just like when people get a divorce. They're no longer on the same page mentally.

This kind of shocks me.I thought they were extremely close.Everything I have ever read
was that they were always on the same page.
I wonder what the real reason is.

It can't be just these petty reasons, I am willing to bet that this is either to stir drama to sell his next fight or they tried to steal money from him.

Ellerbe: I have a plan Floyd. We've already planned your next fight out and you're set to make over 100 million
Floyd: Who?
Ellerbe: Pacquiao, Don't you agree Rafael?
Rafael: Si Si
Floyd: You're both fired.

Shocker. :surprised:
I thought Floyd and Leonard were inseparable.
I fear for poor Leonard, he was so very dedicated and loyal to Floyd. I sincerely hope he'll be okay.
This reminds me of a movie I watched last night Mulholland Drive. I hope the brokenhearted Ellerbe won't react to this the way the character Diane in that movie did.

Unless I'm misreading the story it sounds like Rafael just lost handwrapping duties. He's still the cutman so he ain't going anywhere.
And idk where it said Leonard is fired, but it stands to reason Leonard was gonna f#ck up a lil bit doing sh!t on his own w/o Richard holding his hand or just outright doing things for him. Floyd needs to give some margin for error, get someone to hold his hand again or get another CEO so fair play if Leonard can't do the job & gets fired.

I just think that anyone who has the balls to question or disagree with Floyd on a serious level, has no place in his circle. He surrounds himself mainly with people who are beholden to him. All of his attempted friendships with other celebrities/athletes have gone sour fairly quickly because most Stars/Alphas will refuse to kiss anyone's ass as much as he needs that ego stroke. He clashes with people who don't bow down.
I think he's still the best going right now, but not for much longer and I'm curious to see how his life plays out when he's depending on other fighters to earn his $, because outside of boxing, he's never had a single successful business venture.
When they show his Ex and her boutique on Rodeo Dr. as proof of a successful business that he helped build, I laugh, because as long as the rent is paid, you don't have to earn a single penny with your boutique.
I'm sure he has many business ventures going, like the record company with no quality rappers, and that's great, but the only consistantly profitable venture he has in pocket is himself stepping into the ring.

Agreed. People confuse being able to land big paychecks for a while with business sense. People constantly call Floyd a great businessman and it probably isn't so.
Floyd is a great boxer and entertainer. He's already had money/tax troubles in the past. With his lifestyle and constant bridge burning, he's seemingly on the road to bankruptcy.

What I would say about Floyd that to me is the most impressive thing, is that he's taken self promotion to a level that has made him the highest earning athlete in the world, despite the vast amount of hatred he garners due to a heel personality, an often referred to as 'boring' or 'cowardly' defensive style, the alleged propensity to cherry pick easy opponents and to duck the tough ones.
I see probably a 3-1 ratio of hatred/love for Floyd and he's taken that maximized his earning potential better than any fighter ever has, and any time I see a fighter get a large amount of the $ that he generates, which is a rarity in this shady sport, I like that.
Since I like to see fighters destroy themselves physically for my enjoyment, I
have to always like seeing fighters get paid.
Good on Floyd for putting himself into the position he's in.

I agree 100%. Floyd markets himself better than 99% of athletes in history.
It remains to be seen if he can market others though.

Ellerbe is a talentless loser who is a millionaire for no real other reason than he was friends with floyd.
That said, Floyd goes through a lot of friends. You can always tell alot about a person based on the friendships they have.

One thing you must understand about Floyd... It doesn't matter how close someone is to him at a certain point. Things can change dramatically at any time. We've seen it happen time and time again with people very close to him. Everything is about his best interests. If it's not best for him, whoever is involved is out.

Ellerbe probably got abused like the rest of Floyd's hoes.
Floyd outside the ring is about as dumb as they come. Any real n**** (crosses racial boundaries) can see that he is a phony. He isn't entertaining or intelligent. He is what happens when a fornicating jerk is great at something. People like Floyd destroy every relationship they're in. So, it's not terribly surprising that this relationship breaks too.
I think Floyd's in ring ability is so amazing that we should watch his fight. However, he is only that, nothing more. This is my problem with the Floyd debate. People who hate him can't separate his in-ring brilliance from his outside the rings bullshit. Then, there are the 12 year olds who find him entertaining and buy TMT apparel. But then again, do you really expect someone who thinks Floyd the person is cool to be sensible?

Looks like Rafael Garcia is gone.
To me it seems like Floyd is pointing the finger to ppl on his team for his two lackluster performances.

CEO? LOL. Mayweather Promotions isn't even a real company.
They are basically liaison between Floyd and Golden Boy, and now Showtime creeps.

Maybe in 3 & a half years or w/e when hes not locked into a Gbp contract.
Randomly its kinda ironic the guy whos in a dispute with his boss over not signing boxers to contracts is signed to a contract.

Oscar has stated Richard is contracted with GBP til March (iirc) of 2018. The only thing that maybe off is the month. So til that gets resolved & something gets decided upon hes out til than & I get the feeling Oscar wants to stretch it out.
