Buglioni

I watched his fight and was pretty concerned at how open he was to the left hand. He was caught flush half a dozen times at least. He looks to have a decent beard, but the guy he was in against was no great shakes to be fair.

If he does not tighten up that defence he will get stopped again the next time he steps up. Didn`t quite understand Collins in the corner telling him he was boxing great, as he wasn`t.

Buglioni is what he is i.e. a good looking, game, exciting, ticket selling fighter with a leaky defence and enough talent to get to where he's got. He's good value all round but I never like to see fighters taking heavy shots fight after fight.

I went to all the Rock The Box shows at the Copperbox (4?) and although he bought great, much needed support I don't think he can go any further than British level.

What's everyone else's thoughts on how far he can go?

For me not much further than he is now. I like the bloke & would like to see him do well but hand on heart dont think he will.

I hope he does well but I think he won't go much further. If he didn't sell the volume of tickets he flogs each time he fights, his record would probably be 8-5 by now. Fwank was talking up - prior to the upset defeat - that a big 2015 fight would be Callum Smith vs Buglioni. I have to say, I think Smith would muller him.

In reality it would be a horrible beating for Frank.

Possibly got a British title in him. But even that isn't obvious.

Yeah, I cant even see that to be honest. I guess it would depend on who he fought.

Do you think he'd beat Smith ? I'm not sure. I think Buglioni/Smith, and Buglioni/Fielding for that matter, are fairly even fights.

My concern with Bulgioni at this point in time - accepting that it is a rebuilding process - is that he's getting drawn into fights and being hit cleanly by opposition deliberately hand picked to lose.

I think that both Smith (i'm guessing you mean Callum) and Fielding would both beat him. Both would stop him aswell in all likelihood.

Sorry, I wasn't clear. I actually meant Paul Smith. I would favour him over Buglioni right now, there's not much in it but if Frank is having to have battles and wear down hand picked opponents by attrition, I don't know how on earth he would fare against an opponent who knows how to win and who usually wins.

Tobias webb or luke blackledge would be good fights for him

I think you might be wildly over rating Buglioni.

X2, sorry Jim - Buglioni does not move his head and backs straight up, he will not win a British title, he'll get beaten but put up a brave showing. He seems a really good fellow but, strong as he is he will get beaten again soon. Paul Smith would love to fight him!

Buglioni is exactly the type of fighter I enjoy watching - fairly big puncher with a poor defence.

He won't win many titles, but he'll never be in a bad fight. He's like the British David Lemieux or James Kirkland, just on a much lower level obviously.

X3

This guy is a lesser version of David Walker and I reckon he will have a similar career (given a couple of opportunities over and above what they deserve - based on ticket sales - and coming up short dreadfully).

Very smart call on the Walker observation.

I used to love watching DW fight because he was a fancied, well supported and exciting fighter but with some big cracks in the overall armoury. You could watch one of his fights and he'd either look like a million dollars or suddenly get found out and end-up getting a bit of a tonking.

Buglioni is ploughing the same furrow right now and I am not sure whether Steve and Pascal Collins are going to fix what needs to be fixed; which is pacing a fight and mixing aggression with a more watertight defence.

But it'll be fun finding out.

They might start by teaching him a) how to move his head and b) lateral movement

I understand ticket sellers are needed...but that's literally all the guy has going for him at the moment. He's defensively poor, doesn't appear to have a great chin (being clocked by journeymen doesn't prove his chin), doesn't appear to really be improving and doesn't do anything for me.

Maybe I'm being harsh but I'd rather see a semi talented though less popular guy rather than a guy with the defensive nous of a dead sheep slowly taking shots due to not being sorted fundamentally in terms of defence. This sport is dangerous and if a guy can't defend himself after this many fights someone should be having a serious word with him about other options.
