Cotto Should Just Call it Quits!

Call it a career! As much as I respect Cotto for his fearlessness throughout his career right now at this very moment he has no intentions on
unifying against Golovkin and doesn't seem all that too excited about facing Canelo either
Cotto is like Mayweather now which I don't blame him after the plaster of paris controversy...I don't blame Cotto.
But let's put our egos the side for a second...
He isn't jumping at the chance to fight Canelo or GGG...I'm no fool been watching boxing long enough Canelo shows eagerness to fight Cotto
but on Cotto's end there is some sort of "stalling" with the negotiations. Let's be real here! Cotto really doesn't want a Canelo Alvarez fight...
And he absolutely doesn't fancy GGG showdown as well. So what's next for Cotto?
He wants neither GGG or Canelo so he may as well just call it quits! Call it career because he is definitely stuck between a rock and hard
place. It is what it is!!!!

Cotto is probably the most sought after boxer bedsides Floyd. He can make serious $$$ fighting Floyd or Canelo. He is no how , no way gonna fight Ggg, that would be totally illogical

All his opponents since De La Hoya have had their biggest paydays fighting Floyd. He makes much more of course but the opponent is still quids in. Cotto would prob be on $10m for that fight and the hype as Floyd fights for the lineal (lol) middleweight championship would be huge.

One point ya'll are missing.....
Floyd has stated he will stay at 147lbs...
Then why would he fight a new and improved Cotto training with Roach? To get bruised up again? Hell no there will be no rematch I assure
you guys!
Cotto all I am saying doesn't sound all to excited in fighting Canelo Alvarez. He sure was eager to fight Martinez though
Cotto wants nothing to do with Alvarez...I havn't saw one interview where Cotto sounded excited about the possibility of facing Alvarez

Maybe Cotto will fight Quillen? I think Lara, Andrade, Canelo, and especially GGG all beat Cotto. I would even favor Trout over Cotto again. Maybe to see if he has really improved with Roach is to fight Trout again.

Cotto should call it quits after perhaps the biggest win of his career and before potentially the biggest payday of his career.

Cotto is a warrior, deserves whatever he can make out of the game in whatever time he has left. He can fight or avoid to fight who he wants imo. He has earned it.

Not sure I understand the logic that just because a guy chooses to stay away from TWO fighters ( and assuming those are his words ) that he should retire all together.

I've been a Cotto fan since his early days bit I truly believe he is well past it. The Martinez (who was incredibly shot) result made him look better than he currently is. I think many of the top 20 could beat him. He's looking for a big last payout. I wish him the best of luck in the bout & his life after boxing. A top bloke and a quality boxer. I also feel that the Margarito loss should be wiped from his record. If someone gets caught with dodgy wraps all their previous wins should be erased.
And I like Margarito too

Met him a few times (he used to gamble at a casino I worked at in San Diego) and he was a top fella. All the Mexican dealers used to send him over to me because I was always going on about boxing.

Cotto vs Canelo may be a lot closer than many think. Canelo is far from extraordinary, and I think Cotto, while past his best, has enough in the tank to go along with his ring smarts to make it competitive at least until late in the fight. Other than Canelo, not sure who he fights unless it is guys like Vanes, Kirkland, K9, Smith, etc. I'm sure he will stay clear of Trout, Lara, Andrade, and GGG. It will be big names only, and carefully selected if he fights past Canelo in May. (I am just predicting he will fight Canelo in May)

i think Cotto matches up well with Canelo on a number of levels. he's better offensively in terms of his variety and combination punching. i think he's a better overall boxer, defensively his head movement and foot movement is better. he's just, more vulnerable with it.
the Cotto who beat (say) Mayorga vs the Alvarez who fought Trout, I'd be pretty confident picking Cotto
my main caveats are at this point, how much extra wear & tear/ miles on the clock Cotto has.
and despite all the stylistic/skill advantages I think he has, I simply see Canelo as having much more solidity which could cancel all those advantages out.
