I thought it would have been a perfect ending winning the British against Hamilton, then after losing to Limond it seemed as though the journey was truly over, I cant blame Curtis though as he may have regretted not giving it one last go when he's older but what I don't understand is why? He's already won the British title and beat some good fighters so what are the goals now? Also why the split with Coldwell?

Maybe he's been offered a decent purse for a one off fight. Him & Saunders would be a cracker.

He says he's thinks he's got a few big fights left in him, the Saunders fight would be exciting, maybe he's been made an offer from allegedly?

That's the only fight I can think of which would make him any dosh. I know he has a competitors spirit so he'll go on longer than he needs to.....

The Saunders fight is a terrible move.

Guessing coldwell didnt want Woodhouse to come out of retirement and decided to cut promotional ties and let him move on with his career without boxing under the coldwell banner.

I can't imagine Curtis without Coldwell. They were a good fit.

Either he disagrees with the decision, another promoter needs him as a punchbag for their future star - or both.

Curtis, you've been decked hard in your last few fights and if your financially sound, sod this 'fire' and take your kids for a sunny holiday mate. The story has been written - and sequels to great movies are often a disappointment.

embarrassed about the whole retired not retired thing I've done, I haven't got any offers on the table from anybody fight wise, I've parted company with dave coldwell managerial and promotional so I'm a free agent, it leaves me in a good posistion to choose my next path, I still think I've got some big fights and big performances left in me, dave didn't so we parted company on good terms, still really good mates but shit happens sometimes, looking forward to getting back doing what I love to do, fight, I've won the English title and the British and I'm not fussed about going over old ground, need to go another direction and see what comes up for me, I'm back in training and hope to fight in December, as rocky said I've still got some stuff in the basement

Yes, I wanted to carry on fighting and dave didn't think I had anything left and wanted me to stay retired, just a difference of opinion, he didn't want me to get hurt, no fall out, I think I've still got plenty of good nights in me, dave doesn't so me move on

My bad, read it too fast!

To be fair Curtis. You could take 5 more fights and lose them all, you've still achieved above & beyond. I don't have the skill or determination to become a pro footballer or a British champ never mind both!

I guess you will know what you have left in another fight. Even if not a big challenge or tough opponent you will get a sense and feel for what is left.

I think Dave is right, but of course it's up to you and you've proved people wrong many times before.

If I'd have taken everybody's opinions as gospel I would have never done anything, wouldn't be a footballer, too small, all left foot, wouldn't do any good at boxing, no am experience and started too late, English and British champion, now they tell me I've got nothing left, I'll show them I've got plenty, nobody knows me better than me, get fed up with people telling me what I can't do, let's find out

No disrespect Curtis but as somebody else kind of said earlier - just pee off on a cruise or something with your family, drink champagne and live the high life then remember what it's like to live as a boxer, early morning runs, getting punched in the head in sparring etc - I hope that and hopefully family/ friends pressure keeps you out of the ring boss.

Good luck with it Curtis I'm sure many people are going to have their opinions on it but at the end of the day as long as its for the right reasons nobody knows you as well as you do.

You seem sensible enough to be able to realize "when it's not there" anymore.

Just make sure you do call it quits at the right time as you're far too much of a legend to be used as a stepping stone!

Rendall Munroe got the timing right with his retirement I think; he could tell that although his mind was sharp, his body and reflexes weren't anymore.

When he announced his retirement I was proper choking up!

Are you looking to go self managed and just find a promoter? Or you looking to get both?

As long as you feel you have something to give then at the end of the day that can only be your decision, but as a coach I know how hard it can be to tell someone when it's maybe best for them to consider retiring! I'm sure dave was/is doing what he thinks is best for you and I admire him for just releasing you and sticking to his principles and beliefs on the matter. It shows he isn't just looking to make money off your back!!

Dave seems like a good mate pal, he could back you and make some money out of it but chose not to, thats a rarirty in the fight business
