Cloud is a good class journeyman these days. He's definitely dropped a few levels since outpointing Clinton Woods, etc. Beterbeiv by clear decision or late stoppage.

Beterbiev UD, 9-3ish, but quite competitive.
Although he should be 0-3 in his last three fights, Cloud is a good name for anyone to have on their ledger 6 fights in, imo.

Despite the fact that Beterbiev hasn't fought any decent opponents in the pros yet, I think he will beat Cloud either by wide UD or stoppage.

Beterbiev has 11 pro rounds and has never fought a single remotely decent pro opponent. And Beterbiev has never gone past 4 rounds.
Cloud has boxed 130 pro rounds and has gone 12 rounds many times. He's only ever lost to very good light heavyweights.
Cloud is very durable, he's never been down. He's a very bad matchup for Beterbiev who is a puncher and stands in front of people trying to knock them out. In the later rounds Tavoris' pro experience will be a major factor.
Prediction: Cloud will win by KO/TKO.

Beterbiev has beaten Kovalev (twice) & Attoev (knocked Kovalev out) he's a very good amateur, with a lot of experience. There is a reason, why Beterbiev is fighting Cloud with only 5 fights. He isn't some average joe, he's russian.
Its a bad style matchup for Cloud, because he can't really box (seen against Campillo) and Beterbiev CAN box, but has some big power himself. He'll be the one coming forward, and Cloud can't fight on the backfoot. Beterbiev will win a UD, but i wouldn't be surprised if he even stops normally durable Cloud.

I always thought that in the fights I saw of Beterbiev as an amateur he looked crude. He looked very strong and he could punch (remember seeing him knock out Sillahk) but he didnt look the best boxer. Could be better than i've seen though.

Beterbiev's handlers certainly aren't hanging around and the guy has clearly got power, talent and pedigree.
Kenny Egan did the small sidebar prediction in Boxing News and hinted that we'd best watch this space.
However, taking on Cloud this early does seem like a calculated risk.

That camera angle to the right of and closer to Beterbiev made him look much bigger, but in other photos, they appear to be close to the same size.
Their weights today were the same, both just under 175.

I think I am going with Beterbiev but won't be surprised at all if Cloud wins.

Berterbiev wins by ko in the 2nd round. Cloud was down 3 times in the 1st.

Now people will be saying that Cloud is just a journeyman, even though before today, he only lost to Hopkins and Stevenson. Now, here is another guy Stevenson will be hiding from.

Complete destruction of Cloud by Beterbiev, great stuff!

...that's how you announce yourself. Shame we don't see many other prospects based in the West do that sort of thing so early in their career.

Beterbiev was scary. I can't say any more.

What case is there that he is something more than a journeyman?
Wins over completely spent versions of Gonzalez and Woods?
A debatable decision over a 40+ version of Glen Johnson?
A gift decision over Campillo?
Being dominated by a guy pushing 50, coming off a loss and had one win in his last four fights?
Not being competitive for one second of one round with Stevenson?
The same Stevenson you just said hides from anyone who may represent a threat.
An early stoppage loss to a prospect?

Cloud may not be an elite fighter, but he was a champion and as was mentioned in another thread, he has never been knocked down before. This is a very big win for Beterbiev. He should now be considered top 10-12 LHW and should be eligible for a title eliminator fight.

"Champion" ? lol, he was never a champion.
He beat up a spent version of Woods in the final fight of his career for a vacant belt, then defended it against more old men or undersized opponents. The first time he faced a real light heavyweight who had not previously shown himself to be a shot fighter(Campillo) he needed a gift decision.
He hasn't even come close to winning a fight since.

Yeah, that was a beatdown, the likes you rarely see at the top level. Beterbiev was better than most so called "professionals" back when he was an amateur. It's going to be interesting to see what kind of fights he gets now. There's no way Adonis will fight this guy.

If they keep winning, it's a guaranteed fight. As high as I am on Kovalev, I think Beterbiev is a bad match for him.

They should feed Bute to him, then test him with Pascal. If he passes, then Kovalev.
