Absolutely gash in my opinion.

If there was one thing that irked me as much as some of the dreadful commentating we usually get to spoil mood - it's some lousy trumpeter, horn and drummer trying to drum up an "atmosphere".

It annoyed the hell out of loads of Hatton fans towards the end, that this band would turn up with their dambusters song repeated x20.

But when GG fought last week, for some reason he thinks its a good idea to get them back involved?

I thought it was pretty poor form for them to start playing some derogatory music over the top of Rebrasse's entrance song, some sort of 'hilarious' Benny Hill tune.

Then in between rounds they are at it, then even when the action got lively.

Not a fan of the band but do love the atmospheres we produce in this country for big fights. Froch Bute for example was unreal. I know some people get pissed off with it and just want to watch the fight but I love it.

I think the sad thing is that Groves paid for it.....I'm not sure Ricky did?

I wondered exactly that. Rickys seemed like a natural thing due to his popularity but in the Groves Rebrasse fight it just seemed forced.

The band worked with Hatton because so many people were there, they just provided the backing to everyone else, with Groves there wasn't a big enough crowd, so they drowned them out.

Bands definitely add something to the atmosphere though, take the drum away from Deepdale and there's zero atmosphere, someone rolled up with a trumpet last year and it really got the crowd going. Might work differently indoors though.

I dont know about trumpets but the that chap who played "Born in the USA" when Thompson came out to the Price rematch was absolutely fabulous

Maloney's decision to book that saxophone player was far more baffling than any of his subsequent lifestyle changes.

That band is the same dreadful band that plays at Wembley for the England games.
They also travel all around the world with the team. The FA backs them.

We - I can speak for the vast majority of England fans - can't stand them. They kill the atmosphere both home and away. They take themselves way too seriously and get their travels paid by Pukka Pie (says it all).

I once paid £60 for England ticket, to find myself sat in front of those twats.
I kicked up bit of a stink , I was not the only one. No one seems to enjoy that f*cking bad, they set mics near them to make out everyone is loving it.

We had a drummer at the reebok for a while, I had the misfortune of sitting right by him at a cup game. Every few minutes he'd drum out the same beat du-du du-du-du. I could have strangled him.

Yep in conclusion, a bit annoying and grates on people's nerves.

With Hatton everything seemed to flow naturally and the fights became bigger, the fanbase grew and it was all organic and became a big party atmosphere. Even then the band got a bit annoying but Ricky was a superstar boxer so he got away with it.

Groves needs to let it happen naturally if it's gona happen, don't try and book them each time as people will see through it, as they have with the band at the Rebrasse fight. It seemed very forced.

'There's oooonlly ooooone, George Groooves' He hasn't even got enough syllables in his name for that tune. haha.
