Scott Quigg

I have just watched the latest IFL video and Quigg mentions he only wants Frampton or Santa Cruz next. But everyone here knows that fight does not happen next. Instead of Matchroom feeding us blown up flyweights why not give Quigg a good test against a credible opponent.

Can anybody tell me why the Kid Galahad fight is being avoided? I just don't get it, it's the most lucrative fight excluding the other title holders and will sell out most indoor arenas in the north.

It's time for Quigg/hearn to put up or shut up!!!!

I think the offers being made by big Mick are for the fight to take place on Channel 5 and Quigg is contractually obliged to fight on Sky, which is always gonna be a stumbling block.
I get the feeling big Mick knows this and he is simply blowing smoke and using Quigg as a scapegoat while he feeds Galahad nobodies, like all promoters seem to do until a big money fight comes along.
With Frampton injured I would love to see Quigg fight Santa Cruz next, whether it happens or not we will see....

Quigg will fight another nobody in Dec, on the same bill as Crolla and one or two Olympians. Eddie said he aims to "get Quigg back out" before the end of the year.

I am a massive Quigg fan but this WBA title reign is utter sxxxe and is going from bad to worse.

Eddie has a budget for these shows and it does not cover paying a challenger's purse of an amount required to get a good, proper opponent. He will not pay anything approach six digits for a Quigg opponent, there is absolutely no chance in hell of Santa Cruz coming over to face him, and there is no chance in hell of Quigg going to America to face Santa Cruz.

Don't go by what they say, go on what they do. They are milking Quigg's WBA belt. That is the business model in operation here.

Kid Galahad is perhaps a new addition to the 'Who needs him club'. A bit of a Junior Witter.
There is big risk in fighting Galahad but little reward relatively.
However, I think he should wait another year before facing Frampton or Quigg. Not quite ready.

If Quigg himself was a monster draw like Frampton things might be different. Eddie is going to keep him safe until he can have a guaranteed big money fight.

Personally I think Quigg beats both Frampton and Galahad.

I am sick & tired of hearing about these domestic match ups they are never going to happen until one of the boxers changes promoters. Santa Cruz IMO will never happen I cant see him coming over here unless its serious money & dont really see Quigg being high profile enough to go over there either. Rigondeaux is not going to happen here so all I can envisage for Scott in more blown up Flyweight/Bantamweights. Pity really as I do rate him I think he beats Galahad but not Frampton.

Quigg should be fighting Martinez next if he can't get frampton or Santa cruz in the ring yet. I have a feeling that Eddie doesn't fancy it though

I could certainly see that happening. I just have a feeling that Quigg will rise to the challenge.

I think we said after the last fight there were only a certain number of fights that would be acceptable next for Quigg. There's probably more than the 3 or so fights we mentioned that would pass tho, but it's irritating to hear he will be out on the Bellew v Cleverly bill. I mean I can't see anyone in the top 20 or so taking the fight at such short notice.

It seems to be more quantity over quality unfortunately.

If Quigg fights on the cleverly vs Bellew bill the only fights acceptable aside from Cruz & Frampton would be Galahad or Kiko. I like Quigg, but like most fans- I'm beginning to get frustrated with his poor opposition. Eddie I know you read this forum please sort it out. :TU:

I'd suggest you need to know more about the division if they are the only fights YOU would find acceptable. Shingo Wake would be a VERY acceptable opponent in my mind, Chris Avalos wouldn't be a bad opponent (the bout won't happen but still not a bad opponent), Rey Vargas and Genesis Servania would also be MORE than acceptable, albeit unlikely.

For what it's worth Hidenori Otake vacated his Japanese title this past Monday and said he was focusing on a world title bout. He is ranked by the WBO and the IBF at the moment and the wBA "may" include him next time around. I'd not suggest he could beat Quigg but he's a tough and defensively smart fighter who would be better than the Bantamweight that Quigg has been feasting on.

Really????? do they do anything for Quigg profile right now? Are you honestly telling me you'd rather see the names you mentioned rather than Kiko and Galahad.

Yes I'd rather see Wake/Avalos/Vargas or Servania than Galahad or Martinez. What they do to his profile is different to what is "acceptable" and different to what I'd like. Either way we've ended up with Agbeko which is a frankly appalling contest.

Bellew v Cleverly
Quigg v Galahad

That would be magic. You'll all hate me but I'd accept PPV for that...

Quigg is in danger of becoming another Cleverly, title doesn't really mean anything and the level of opposition is basically an international title level. Too many of these fights and by the time he gets in the ring with the likes of Frampton he'll have stagnated too much.

They said Galahad has done nothing to deserve the fight when hes done pretty much exactly what Quigg did to get a title shot but with less fights. What Quiggs current opponent has done to deserve a shot is anyone's guess, lose 4 out of your last 5,have no profile over here and get a title shot over a rival who fights on domestic tv!

Meaty Mick putting Galahad on a Hearn show in a genuine 50/50 fight ?
Wise up.
Business decision nothing to do with sport.

True. You know that camp and what have you far better than me but do you think they'd be willing to take the risk of fighting on a hearn bill? I remember reading one of the sheffield lot on here saying how galahad apparantly dealt with Quigg in sparring. I know that's just sparring but it's gotta give you confidence if true.

Totally agree. can't help but think Cleverly should have had more experience. Nothing he had done prepared him for Kov. Quigg is not being stretched. It's a shame.

Isn't Quigg fighting Agbeko next? a guy that lost to Rigondeaux in his last fight, although it was 10 months ago?

Boxrec have Galahad 9 places above Agbeko.

I'd like to see Quigg try and defend that "title" of his against Kiko Martinez, see how he fares...
