Anyone know what's happening with him?

Has he retired or is he fighting on? His decision to go up to lightweight certainly wasn't a good one. He looked good at 9st 4 prior to that.

He hasn't retired as far as I know, he was training and looking for sparring a few weeks ago so hopefully he gets back down to Super Feather and we could see him in some good matches! He is being coached by Paul Weir now too

john wants to fight Warrington should he win the Euro belt, featherweight is Johns weight, too small for the best SFW he's admitted that

I like Simpson, a good pro who hasnt always had the rub of the green. Would be nice if he could get some more success at the end of his career, but he has been in some real battles so I wouldnt like to see him hurt.

I think him V Warrington makes a good fight as Warrington probably doesnt carry the power to really hurt him and outside chance of an upset, but realistically would be hard to see him getting a shot and getting down to Feather after his last couple of fights is probably easier talking about than doing.

That would be a good fight but do you think that he would deserve that fight considering his recent form?

Johns a qaulity pro the type you'd want to see on a bill you where going to / he's had sum cracking fights !

John said at the boxing awards (bit tipsy) that his now retired and going to move into training pros and that his already training a couple of young propects.
Retiring because he has a problem with his right eye.

When was that mate? He was asking Scott Allan for sparring just a few weeks ago, I know because we asked if he would spar with Ronnie for his fight!!

I hope it's not true but if there is a problem with his eye then he is making the right decision by hanging them up! You have a long life to live after you retire!!

Friday just gone, it did look like his right eye was it was more shut than the left eye.
He was pretty happy with how his career went, seems content so lets hope he does pass his knowledge on and keeps the gloves off.

Well he can't have any regrets about his career, he has been involved in loads of brilliant fights and has always gave the fans their moneys worth!!

If he chooses to coach fighters then he will be an asset to any gym.

Him of a few years ago ( when he beat Prime Lindsay in Belfast ) at Feather v Josh would be an excellent domestic fight.

But is he the same fighter and can make that weight ??

hope he has still got his health, top pro and a ruddy good fighter

If he's called it a day fair play he's had a long hard career.

It's a shame he didn't end on a win he deserves better than those 2 stoppage losses.

Yes he is fighting Patrick hyland an will beat him he's not retired still has a good chance of winning more domestic titles

This is much better match making for John Simpson, Patrick Hyland is a nice boxer but isn't a massive puncher. John will be fighting at his natural weight and will be able to use his strength and toughness to make this a good fight.

John can definitely win this fight as long as the last couple of mismatches haven't taken anything out of him.
