Where's James "Great" Scott?

Anyone aware of the whereabouts and current life of controversial 70s and 80s light heavyweight James Scott?
The fighter who became a huge national celebrity fighting on network television at Rahway prison where he was incarcerated for robbery.

Was reading a 1979 Ring Magazine yesterday detailing his bout with Eddie Gregory and polling readers on whether he should be allowed to fight for the title.

Got me to wondering whatever became of Scott? He seemed to disappear after losing to Qawi.
Was he eventually paroled? Did he return to prison? Did he have any other involvement with boxing?

He was always a favorite of mine. Found it incredible that he could morph into a world class boxer while spending years behind bars.
Hell, he beat tough guys like Gregory, Celestine, Kates, and even outslugged very rugged Yaqui Lopez.

He was a contender. Maybe he coulda been a champion.

"Scott was released from prison, his time served, in 2005, at the age of 58. In 2012, Scott was inducted into the New Jersey Boxing Hall of Fame. He currently resides in a New Jersey nursing home, suffering from dementia, with less and less awareness of his surroundings."

I appreciate the sad update.

I would say that it's unexpected, disturbing news that Scott is in poor health. But we always hear about so many former fighters suffering from dementia, that it's unfortunately a hazard of the trade.
James Scott is only 66-years-old.

Remember those Scott fights from Rahway well.

He was a ferocious fighter and the scene was intimidating as hell.
