According to the article below Mendy reckons he's guaranteed Froch £4m to fight Degale.

I don't see it. Where is the money coming from? I will admit I really, really, really, really, really, really, really dislike Mendy because of the way he tricked Paul Ince back in his West Ham days.

But if anyone can enlighten me as to how he can pay Froch that amount while also getting his own fighter a decent purse (must be £800k at least???) as well as making a profit for himself and Hearn?

What did he do to ince?

Ince was a 20 year old kid playing for the Hammers. The season was over and Ince was going on holiday with his mates for a couple of weeks. Ambrose Mendy (his manager) got him to wear a few kits - Man Utd, Liverpool, etc just in case any transfer bids came in while he was away (he was the hottest prospect in British football at the time).

Instead, Mendy leaked the photo's to the press and made the deal with Man U. Ince was made to look a right c.unt (at the time we still expected loyalty from players) and is still hated to this day by a section of West Ham fans.

Ince has since told his side of the story - which I believe. He shouldn't have had those photos taken but he was a kid who trusted his agent.

I know boxing promoters in general aren't the most trustworthy & believable bunch but Mendy is a parasite.

Mendy did (allegedly) take the mick out of how slowly Virgil Hunter talks tho. So every cloud.

I thought Mendy was a very shady man, wasn't he in with those Essex bouncers who got shot years ago.

I don't think he was involved with them. He has served a few terms in prison though, usually for fraud.

Ambrose Mendy is cunning, eccentric and brilliant. Without characters like him the world would be a lesser place.

Ince is Nigel Benn's cousin, did Mendy advise Benn before Ince or the other way round? Did Benn introduce Ince to Mendy?

Mendy had loads of black celebrities on his books in the late 80's early 90's, "The Black Pack" he called them... He played the race card very well. There is quite a bit on him in the anti-Warren book, Lords of the Ring (which Fwank got pulped after successfully sueing). There was also a great documentary on the BBC called The Purse which featured Mendy and all the other big boys around that time. Mendy was partners with Fwank right at the start.

Interesting. I had often heard of the Ince thing with the Man Utd top and the way he is loathed by West Ham fans but never knew the exact story. Cheers for sharing anyway.

What about Bobby Moore and his near long decade attempt to sign for Tottenham? How comes that gets brushed under the carpet yet "poor" old Incey gets it in the neck whenever he goes back?

How much did Froch get for both Groves fights? Anyone have an idea? £4m doesn't sound a huge amount for DeGale, surely Froch wouldn't get far off that without any Mendy involvement?

Nowhere near that for Groves 1 and double that for Groves 2!

I don't think 'annoys' quite covers it. Personally I think he was stitched (as I said in the story) but many of my fellow Hammers are still spewing hatred towards the poor lad.

Not sure. They were all black eastenders involved in sport in the 80's so I assume it was a small step for them to all know each other. Mendy is a smart bloke so he will have made sure he was involved with them.

Anyway, (I got sidetracked with the football angle) does anyone know how Mendy would raise a £4m payout for Froch - as well as getting a fair payday for Degale (and everyone else involved).

Froch Groves II was a massive fight in regards to the public. Froch Degale not so much but I don't live in Blighty anymore so can't gauge how the man on the street feels.

Is it a PPV bout there?

If Bellew v Cleverley is PPV then Froch v DeGale will be.

In reality it would be but it's not really the size of fight that goes without saying; unless there's a Brook/Khan or Clev/Bellew type co-main event. Talk of Wembley stadium for Froch v Degale is laughable IMO.

Agreed. I know quite a few chaps who went to Froch Groves II and it's probably their only boxing event this century. They won't be going again in a hurry.
