for me the boxing year 2014 was complet sh%/t

main events bewteen top ppv fights mostly sucked. like the borefest pacquiao vs rios, lara vs canelo, mayweather maidana II.

than big match up fights like adonis - kovalev, rigo - cruz and ggg vs some quality name like chavez jr, martinez, cotto did not happen.

also, the power that haymon gets day by day is something very bad for boxing, because it keeps big fights from not getting made because of politics, $$ and simply reasons of power.

so what do you expect the most of 2015 and what do u realistlcy how everything will turn out?

I agree it hasn't been the best of years. The standout fight for me (I'm English) was Coyle vs Brizuela. Most of the fights have been one sided / borefests especially matchroom events. Froch v Groves 2 created genuine interest but the actual fight didn't catch fire.

2015 I'd like to see more fights that generate genuine interest. It's boring me silly watching Joshua knock everyone over inside two rounds and Luke Campbell look OK but nothing special against nothing opponents.

On the world scene I'd like to see Ward - just see him would be good preferably against Froch but that won't happen. Kovalev v Stephenson, I'd like to see. I'd like to see Mayweather step up in weight and take on Golovkin but that won't happen. Carl Frampton v Santa Cruz or failing that vs Quigg.

It's up to the promoters and managers to make it a better year.

We need the promoters of beltholders like Quillan, Stevenson, Abraham, Hernandez, Huck, Stiverne, Cotto etc to be willing to unify.

This year has been AMAZING at the lower weights. If all you watch is televised on Sky, HBO and Showtime you've been missing out. If you look away from those channels and catch the stuff on BeIN sports Espanol, Fuji TV, Gushiken channel etc you'll have really enjoyed the year. If you've not seen Takayama Vs Rodriguez Jr, Gonzalez Vs Yaegashi, Eto Vs Diale, Terdsak Vs Salido, Rosas Vs Guerrero then you've been missing out SO MUCH!

Also if you've missed the rise of Kosei Tanaka and Artur Beterbiev then again you've missed out, big time!

Expectations for next year...

Kosei Tanaka to win a world title in his 5th professional bout and have fans raving over him like they are with Naoya Inoue
The lower weights to again steal the show
A number of Thai prospects to really break through
More interim titles
More hype and hyperbole regarding British and American fighters
A quick growth of BeIN sports Espanol which will continue to pick up the lower weight classics
More free streams from the venue (something SGS have done well and Miyata did recently as well)

Have a sneaking suspicion things won't work out with golovkin the way we expect it to, just think his opposition has been same type that bute had and maybe there is a reason for that

Although I agree with you completely, it's really nothing different from bob arum/richard schaefer keeping big fights from happening or don king do what don king does best

it probably doesn't matter what crook runs the sport, these problems will just keep on happening

want to see Stephenson fight the winner of Kovalev/hopkins. Part of me want to see the 2 big hitters get it on but some perverse part of me want to see that crazy old bastard hopkins old man his way to being 50 year old undisputed champion after beating the 2 big names

I'd love to see Wlad get the 4th belt then walk away from the sport. He's got nothing left to prove

Frampton vs quigg

Danny Garcia to step up to Welterwieght, he's been in with a couple of ordinary opponents in his last couple fights and there nothing left at light welter, i'd like to see him in the mix with the 147lb division, some fantastic fights in there for him
In fact there's just plenty good match ups to be made at welter. (i'm not mentioning that one), pick any 2 from the top 10 or 12 fighters and i'd be happy to watch it

kovalev vs adonis is a must

danny doesnt play no role, overrated dude. he dont have what it takes for welterweight. he was very strong at light welterweight because of his power, now he gonne face dudes much stronger than him, thurman, even brook, those dudes gonne crush him. i dont expect much from danny at welter.

but match up wise you correct. welterweight is about to boom!!!

maidana - thurman
brook - bradley
danny - porter
mayweather - kahn

i mean no matter if you like it powerful, fast or technical, just overal great match ups to be made, hope they all get made, except floyd vs amir, but realisticly, i think thats the next mayweather fight.
certainly marcos against keith would be an absolute monster fight. i mean we talking foty type of fight. 2 physicly strong power punchers who go for the kill. damn.

you think mickey has a chance against top level light ww like provod, matt.....

i mean technicly he is superior to them, wounder how his power gonne play a role, if he can keep powerful sluggers like provod away from him with jab and movemant

Yes, this is a strange decision. Why not move up one weight class and see how it goes ?

i mean at lightweight there is absolutly no money to be made. crawford is movin up and who is left. beltran and mickey bey ??

but movin up to quickly when you dont have the power for higher wait classes can be dangerous, just look at broner.

he had great power at lower weights and now at welterweight he seems to have paulie malignaggi kind of power hahaha....=)

interesting if Mikey goes that far up in weight. his power's been a major factor at the lower weights, and I don't see him as a slickster if his power doesn't come up with him
